Here's the ratio between the hurricane base damages from two different sources: Weinkle et al. vs. http://icatdamageestimator.com 

Both are updates of the PielkeJr data, and PielkeJr is a coauthor on Weinkle et al.
Notice:
1) Weinkle estimates are lower than ICAT post-2005. This will lead to a reduced trend.
2) The single largest discrepancy between the two datasets is for Hurricane Ophelia (2005). Original reports estimated $1.6bn damage based on initial modelling, which was later revised to $70m. This revision did apparently not make it into the Weinkle et al. data set.
