Patel also set to rest rumours that he & Nehru were rivals:
"Our mutual affection has increased as years have advanced, and it is difficult for people to imagine how much we miss each other when we are apart & unable to take counsel together in order to resolve our problems..."

Patel and Nehru were comrades and co-workers; who worked together to unite India and give it a democratic template. Why then do some people today see them as rivals? It is because, as Gopal Gandhi once put it, the Congress has disowned Patel, allowing the BJP to misown him.
