Short thread: few PR #ProTips based on today’s Twitters:

1) If you choose to speak with a reporter, it is up to YOU to confirm attribution. If you want to be off the record, you must explicitly state so and get acknowledgment from the reporter.
2) Best practice is to only speak OTR with a reporter you know and trust. Attribution is an agreement between a source and a journalist. It is NOT a legal and binding contract.
3) That which you publicly publish on your social media feed is considered in the public domain. Reporters have no obligation to ask you to re-publish what you have already published. If you don’t want to see it again, don’t say/post it.
4) If you don’t want to read your comment on the front page of the newspapers, don’t say it. Security is at the source (i.e. YOU)
5) When speaking in public, you are never off the record. Any attendee with a cell phone can record/livestream you. If Chatham House Rules are in effect, know this is an agreement you have with everyone in the room, not a contract. Any one of them can default on you.
6) Privacy is dead.

A late add I thought of this morning...so I made a meme...

7) Nicely groomed hair, clear skin, and fresh breath is a must.
