One of my students have me a hug at the end of class today ❤️
I had read my poem "Un-tombed" with Philip Larkin's "An Arundel Tomb," which it riffs off of, and she said it was really moving
I am usually shy about sharing my work with my own students, but it seemed appropriate in a discussion of poems in conversation
Which started with this amazing poem by @PhilipMetres paired with "We Do What We Have To Do" by Yehuda Amichai https://poets.org/poem/my-heart-nation
...and then @marwahelal in conversation with @PhilipMetres from his Sand Opera Lenten project in 2016 http://behindthelinespoetry.blogspot.com/2016/02/sand-opera-lenten-journey-day-13-blues.html
And then with all the "oo" sounds in "multiplication of the blues" by @marwahelal I had to show them Plath's "Daddy" and play the recording of her reading it
So anyway if you wanna read the poem that inspired the hug here it is. Thanks to @DavidYezzi for publishing it in @Hopkins_Review ❤️ https://muse.jhu.edu/article/647825/summary
And boy, did I really need that hug so YAY POETRY 💯🤓❤️
