I've recently had an amazing life experience that I want to discuss here, because I think it has wide reaching implications, and may just provide a clue to our way out of this mess.

thread.
1/
By an extraordinary combination of circumstances, about two months ago, I actually came to meet not one of the people I regularly interact with on Twitter, but 21 of them. I can't swear by that number, because there were just SO many.

2/
We were all Beto supporters, here on Twitter. We had all decided, by virtue of prompting from mutual twitter friends, to attend the #IowaSteakFry event in support of our candidate...

none of us had ever met.

3/
What happened was this...............

I found my people.

4/
See... these were people who I had been talking to, who, because of the fact that we can be selective in who we interact with here, tended to agree with me on most things.

5/
And it turns out they are awesome people... and what's more, they're not the kind of people I would have expected to be *my people*... they are from different political, social, economic, and functionary backgrounds.

They are diverse.

6/
They are from different religions... they vary in their sexual preferences... they are different colors... they are unique.

Yet... they are my people.

7/
Since meeting, we have formed a bond... a group... a movement. We have grown our group to more than 50 people, and we are not deterred.

We will make a difference.

8/
We ARE making a difference, already, because we are connecting.

We are no longer social media personas.

We are real people, and we are connected, and we are committed to doing things.

9/
So....

Here's the ask:

Make an effort to meet your twitter friends. Seriously. Do it... Build Networks. Make a Difference. Do things... and just spread this hashtag.

#MeetYourTwitterFriends
PS...

to all the Pete people out there:

WE ARE NOT BOTS
