As twitter pulses with tweets about impeachment, I wanted to inject a thread about family.

It is often said that when a person is diagnosed with a terminal illness, their entire family is also diagnosed as no one can fight this fight on their own.

I am living proof.
Where do I start. When I was diagnosed we cried together. A lot. For a week. And then we got to work.

For those who follow me, you know what my wife, @sabrevaya, has done in this fight. She is relentless, driven every hour of the day to ensure that I grow old with her.
What you may not know is:

My brother, @pwallach87, has literally upended his career to dive headfirst into raising millions for this fight and to building research collaboratives that can and will bring about real treatments.
My other brother, @md_wallach, has read hundreds of ALS papers, studies and websites all in an effort to help make sense of this madness.

My mom moved from DC to Chicago to help us get through life and has flown around the world with me.
And my in-laws, including my sister in law, have invested their heart and souls in this fight, traveling far and wide, keeping us sane through the dark times and supporting us in ways in never dreamed of.

What you may not know is that this is why I say I am a lucky guy.
What you may not know is that ALS, this fight, has indelibly shaped all of our lives.

What you may not know is that while other families open up restaurants or clothing stores together, we opened a family business dedicated to destroying ALS.
What you may not know is that as I see their love and support every day it makes me stronger, drives me harder, makes me more relentless.

What you may not know is that I will never be able to repay them for this and even better that they don’t expect me to.
Instead, they just want me to live.

Did I mention yet that I love my family?
