We live in a time of extraordinary elite generosity, it is true.

We also live in a time of extraordinary elite hoarding, at far greater scale.

Leon Cooperman is doing us a favor in showing the link between the two: how helping is so often used to justify and protect hoarding. https://twitter.com/schwartzbcnbc/status/1194731650544021515
Billions and billions are given away every year by people like him.

But here the quiet part is said out loud. He expects what many expect in exchange for those billions: For you to shut up about a system that keeps trillions out of workers’ wages, tax coffers, and the commons.
Giving away $100 million or $1 billion partly out of hope that it will stave off reforms that would cost you many times that is a good investment.
And I repeat: I’m prepared to meet Leon Cooperman any time, any place, to give him his debate.
