I’ve seen many people wonder how Yaya could play as a CB in a CL final, play DM at one club and end up as an AM scoring 20 league goals in one season at another club.

The answer is actually simple. Lol. You play almost every position growing up in African countries.
You can’t escape it. You might be the best striker in the land but one day, you will play left back or even as a goalkeeper. Sometimes (see Casemiro, although that’s Sourh America), that’s the only way you get into the team.
So it never surprises me when an African player is surprisingly versatile or an attacking player is great defensively (Mané).

I’m willing to bet that someone like Osimhen can okay CB without stress. If you have an African player in your team & need a makeshift anything...
He’ll most likely kill it. Like when you have an injury crisis or something.

Oh yeah, that’s probably why K Koulibaly is exceptional on the ball. He probably didn’t even start as a CB. You’ll probably hear that he was a striker banging in goals in his youth.
Africa is probably the best place to find ball-playing CBs. There’s a huge chance that whichever CB you find has played lots of games in attack & has great ball-playing abilities.
