According to @Rapsheet -- Cam Newton would be open to playing for the Chicago Bears. Its interesting when mentioning this to fans that most say.. "nah"
I say maybe its not such a bad idea. Lets take a look at this. Thread

Cam Newton has been hurt and that introduces injury risk. He's tough so he tends to play hurt and underperforms. He's been hurt multiple times through his career, but current injury history was a shoulder injury in 2018 and foot injury sustained in preseason that put him on IR.
But lets take a deeper look.
Cam Newton is well known for his MVP season in 2015 losing in the super bowl to the Broncos. So his upside is best player in the NFL and leading team to super bowl. Thats good. Most 95% QB's don't even have close to that upside.

I know. That was 4 years ago. He's clearly not that same! And there's some truth to that, but if you look closer I think there is some MVP left in him.
In 2016 he struggled with injuries. In 2017 he wasn't efficient but still made plays, was 11-5 and went to the playoffs.

But 2018.. only 12-14 months ago was interesting. Most may not remember but Cam Newton was awesome to start the 2018 season.
At week 8, Cam was 6-2, top 10 offense, 15TD, 4INT, 100+ rating, 240 yds/game, 350 yards rushing, 4 rush TD's

week 8 he goes on the injury report for a shoulder injury. They got routed by PIT, then he played well in 2 close losses to SEA & DET, then the wheels fell off 3 games with 2 TD, 6INT and 60 PR. Watching those games you can clearly see he was hurt. He finished 2018 on IR.
After offseason shoulder surgery he looked good to go but had a foot injury in preseason. He played poorly in 2 games and ran for -2 yards. Hasn't been able to play since week2 and was put on IR this year. Now people talk like its unlikely he plays in Carolina..so maybe Chicago.
The Bears better consider it. Yes, he's a risk. But you have to look at everything. Cam risk of injury vs. risk that Trubisky stinks vs. risk that you draft a QB that stinks vs. Risk that you sign some Brian Hoyer vet that is average at best.
I have no interest in more Hoyer, Grieses. That just never works. I think unless Trubisky really takes a huge step, the risk that he's a bust is MUCH higher than Cam injury risk. Not to mention that Trubisky's ceiling may only be average QB at best where Cam's ceiling is MVP.
We could draft another QB. We should. We should draft QBs every year until we have one. Bad news is we have no 1st round pick. But can draft a QB in 2nd and trade for Cam. If Cam's hurt then the young QB goes in. Its just that if Cam's healthy, he plays.
If we had a menu and could pick Brees, Brady, Mahomes, then sure.. I wouldn't pick Cam. But our realistic choices will be Mitch, veteran journeymen, 2nd round pick. Cam Newton is the actually the least risky if you think about it.
Maybe it doesn't work. But why not go for it? one healthy Cam Newton for one season can absolutely win you one super bowl and even if you consider it a lottery ticket, at least you know the potential upside is there.
.. or maybe we just bring back Mike Glennon? He's healthy.
