I am fairly sure someone has subtweeted my thread re: small press prices not being worth profiting off the abuse of small press workers, re-phrasing the thread away from that theme.

And frankly my wits are fraying as is over this. So I’ll be taking a few days off Twitter.
But I’ll reiterate: small press rates are not and never will be worth profiting off the abuse of a publisher’s employees.

If we were talking tens or hundreds of thousands? I could understand the pause on author’s parts. $250-3000? Nope, don’t get it.
Small presses are awesome. I run one. I love small presses. We’re a super cool and valuable set of spaces.

But we definitely don’t offer up the kind of money that should keep people thinking “hm, but we NEED that here to sustain us, despite all this horrible horrific stuff”.
And if I’m right, and I was subtweeted...

Like. I’m an emotional abuse victim here in coming forward to speak to my experience, and share information to better my community.

If something comes off not perfectly...you really want to spend your time in this convo subtweeting me?
I’m tired my dudes.

Fingers crossed I’m wrong.
