Early in the game, the second drive I believe, The Seahawks targeted Moseley on a deep back shoulder throw to the 6'4" 230lb rookie DK Metcalf who runs a 4.3 40.
Just last week DK caught a back shoulder pass in overtime that put the Seahawks in position to put away the Bucs. The key to defending this throw is staying attached to the receiver as much as possible and playing through the hands. The slightest misstep and its a catch
Moseley did a great job of controlling DK throughout the route and then playing through the hands. Now the tricky thing is you can't play the back shoulder and go route at the same time but typically if the CB is even or upfield shoulder, the back shoulder throw is coming.
3rd and short. The key to defending slants is not giving space. As you can see, Moseley feathers just a bit too much, Almost picking himself and allowing DK to cross face untouched
Notice here how Richard Sherman doesn't create the space, making DK work flatter than he'd like and putting himself in a better position to make a play on the ball.
-Dont create the space
-Make receiver work laterally
-Be a guy and make a play

Moseley tackling was great this game. Most of the time when a corner has 10 tackles you'd assume he gave up a ton of catches. Here Moseley defends his third, diagnoses screen.. takes the air out and allows no leak yardage.
Whats even more impressive about this play, the 49ers followed it up with back to back short yardage stops forcing a punt
Moseley here playing his 3rd. Russell Wilson extended the play which expands zones.. Moseley closes with he big hit on DK Metcalf.
More cover 3. Moseley initially showed press. Nice bail not giving too much ground. Another display of great tackling here. DK Metcalf catches the ball at the 40 and gets tackled at the 40. No leak yardage.
More zone coverage. Possible cover 4. But another display of great tackling. This is a 190 pound corner taking on TE and big receivers allowing ZERO yards on contact. Tackling is a mindset. When Moseley comes down to make the tackle, he's coming with bad intentions
Another big 3rd down play. This time giving up the catch to Josh Gordon. Moseley has a habit of giving too much ground on his feather/motor while guarding receivers on slants. These big body receivers will put you on their back basically boxing you out.
Ideally you don't want to let the receiver work upfield. Make him flatten off that slant NOW. Like Sherman did a few his ago.
3rd down. Seahawks go back to the back shoulder fade and again Moseley makes a play on the ball. Playing through the hands. Now he never got his head around.. But he played the ball well. 49ers do this with Witherspoon a lot. Single Spoon up to the single receiver side
Emmanuel Moseley is a little smaller than the ideal big long corners you see in the Seattle scheme. at 5'11" 190lbs with 31 1/2" arm length, Moseley breaks a lot of barriers. But what can do is cover.
At his pro day Mosley posted great testing numbers
40: 4.42
3 cone: 6.84
Vert: 38 1/2
Bench: 21 reps
his testing was through the roof but more importantly his on field play reflects it. Tremendous movement skills, fluidity and great versatility

Ive seen mock drafts having the 49ers drafting a cornerback high in the 2020 draft, with the emergence of Emmanuel Moseley, that may not be a priority.
