A theory: Danny Rose is Pochettino’s mouthpiece in the media to expose those higher up at Spurs.
We have always known how close Pochettino & Rose have been since Poch arrived to Spurs in 2014.

The first day they met, Poch told him “I will get you into the England team.”

I feel like all his interviews resemble Pochettino’s real thoughts on the club & the way it’s run.
They have a close bond & regular meetings.

Even when he had that infamous interview with the Sun, he wasn’t dropped from the team. He was working his way back from injury & then slowly reintegrated.

Any other player would have been completely isolated from the team.
Here, he makes it clear it was ‘the people upstairs’ trying to sell him in the summer. Just goes to show Poch & Levy aren’t on the same wavelength. At no point does he say the manager didn’t want him. Rose starting 11/16 games this season suggests he was part of Poch’s plans.
We know he changes his tune every other week, but there were moments when Poch seemed really pissed off over the last 12 months & he just couldn’t hide it; even now. He prev insisted he has very little influence, if any, over transfers & contracts for his own players.
These go in line with Rose’s comments on the multiple times he’s had a go at how the club handle transfers/contract negotiations with star players. The manager isn’t in control of any of it. Although it has everything to do with the footballing side of things, Levy is in control.
Is Rose right for his interview today? Opinions will certainly differ. Is he wrong, however? Definitely not. If his form wasn’t suffering right now, people would want to listen more to what he has to say. He cares about the club, just not the people who run it.
