Google- Sneaky Bastards
One of the most ridiculous practices is for companies to place an ad for their website so when someone searches for your website, the first thing that appears is a clickable ad for your site rather than your URL.
So you end up paying for the click to your site from someone who is looking for you rather than clicking on a free listing. Agencies doing media buys for you love to place ads for your own URL because it makes their media buys look efficient.
We never buy "PulseTV. com" or "PulseTV" search terms. The first listing should always be our home page. But Google sneaks in our ad feeds our own URL even though we suppress our "PulseTV" . We routinely have to insist stopping this practice. One more aspect of fraud.
And if an agency tells you to buy your own name as a search term, fire them immediately...and they will do mental gymnastics telling you it is a great branding idea. #FraudsAndClowns
