The media continues to horserace impeachment as if there's legitimacy to both sides. It's maddening. All you see if "Could this backfire on the Democrats?" rather than "What consequences should there be for Republicans attempting to stonewall a clearly impeachable crime"?
And maybe the lesson is "There are no consequences, as the GOP has figured out that they can break any rules they want, ignore predecent, lie about anything, and there's no remedy to stop it short of elections, which they also manipulate through gerrymandering and propaganda."
I don't think there's a way back from this. Once one side figures out rules only matter when they do/don't enforce them, that control/power supercedes everything, and that there's no legitimate remedy for stopping them," it's over, especially when the other side is docile.
(This is also why the Democrats' apparent lack of interest in winning back the Senate is so galling. The GOP is slating Pelosi about wasting time when the Senate obstinately refuses to bring any bills to the floor, and then blames the Democratic House for doing nothing)
Anyway, back to the main point (again).

What Trump did with Ukraine -- ignoring the 40,000 other things he's done -- is clearly and grossly impeachable. The subpoena testimony has more than backed up the initial whistleblower complaint.

Everything else is GOP bullshit.
