It’s AIRPORT TIME!!! https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙂" title="Slightly smiling face" aria-label="Emoji: Slightly smiling face"> A few days ago I tweeted about the hands relationship to the rear arm pit, and the sequence of their movement. This hitter is failing that sequence.
And because he is failing that sequence he has to push forward with his arms. This swing might be the most common low level swing at high levels. It is the ‘bandaid’. Many MLBers get away with this because of their athleticism. But they do not teach their potential.
The second pro I worked with, back in 2009 I believe, reported that if his hands moved forward before the stretch finished he was toast. That is exactly what is happening here, although, after speaking with this hitter I’m pretty sure he doesn’t understand the stretch process.
He has no Ferris wheel. The proper action of his back and scap is absent. Therefore the gears never engage.
He is the pic on the right. You must be the pic on the left.
When your hands push forward before the Ferris wheel gear engages the leg gear, you are not getting the pull of the rear leg. You are not in DRIVE. Your transmission is in NEUTRAL.
Pujols engaging his gears.
Pujols gears again.
Arods gears
Ortiz’ gears
A point at which the gears have engaged. The launch will be ‘out from’ his body driven by a PULLING rear leg.
The resistance must be BEHIND the arm pit. When the hands move forward first it will NEVER be behind.
COACHES.....at the StL clinic, Dec 12/27-12/28, you will feel something you’ve never felt before. THEN, you can teach it with confidence. Clinic is limited to 18 spots. First come first serve. Send your email through DM to reserve your spot.
DADS/PLAYERS. All the info you need is @WIRED_Dev
HINT: Your resistance will never be behind your rear leg if you’re two legged. Impossible.
Striding to 50/50 before launch will ruin the sequence. Every time.
“Finding your content on the web completely changed the way I teach hitting and my players have shown a much improved idea of how to hit the ball hard.......At first I wondered why you got the push back that you did. What would be the big deal if what you were saying was valid?”
“It slowly dawned on me that the reason is money. If you’re right, then the majority of yahoos teaching kids how to hit are wrong. Good luck convincing to parents. Anyways, keep fighting the good fight. I appreciate all your free info. It is incredibly helpful”
