Thread! Primarily to show my #homedialysis setup in a v small 1 bed flat but obviously Archie my chief #dialysis buddy is equally important 😂 however I’ve had many convos recently with people being told they MUST have significant extra space & a spare bedroom etc to even be /1
considered for #homeHD yet it is perfectly possible to fit into very small homes providing utilities are suitable. Footprint of my waterproof tray here is 80x130cm. I’ve had other setups in small flats & 1 in the eaves of a tiny attic bedroom. New compact HD machines coming /2
out like the @QuantaDT SC+ will make this even easier. Surely it should be personal choice if you want to fit a machine/supplies into a smaller space or your own bedroom rather than have a blanket renal unit home HD policy which then risks creating a 2 tier system of access /3
based on size of home (aka persons financial means). Clever storage & option of fortnightly deliveries can overcome consumables management challenges. It’s frustrating that ppl are held back from the benefits of home by seemingly arbitrary & very inconsistent policies about /4
space. Rant over 🙈 photo: Fabio de Paola for the Guardian #haemodialysis #ckd #dialysischoice #patientchoice #flexiblecare
