My feelings on the impeachment hearings and the soaps (because I know you all desperately wanted to know my opinion):

In the past the networks have often preempted the soaps in order to show news that wasn’t all that important (and that could be easily found elsewhere), and so we’ve developed (or at least I have) a feeling that most of the time preempting the soaps isn’t really good+

-for anything, but it sure is bad for the shows.

The impending impeachment hearings land in a whole different category.

Impeachment hearings aren’t some celebrity trial. They aren’t a presidential candidate grandstanding in front of the press. +

They aren’t a “show” president sending their messenger (or sending themselves!) to distract the press. They aren’t “breaking news” that is so “breaking” that there is no information to be had. +

Impeachment hearings are the public part of a process designed by the U.S. Constitution to save the country from being turned into less of a democracy.

I don’t want GH to be preempted. It will really suck if the schedule gets messed up and we end up seeing the holidays+

at the wrong time, but allowing as many people as possible in the U.S. to see and hear evidence about the potential crimes and impeachable offenses that have been committed (and using our money!) is much more important. +
