For half a Century, SA had a racist system of laws, brutally enforced to deny opportunity & dignity on the basis of skin colour - and totally dispossess millions of their property & rightful potential. Generations of black families were, and are, disadvantaged by it.
The Apartheid laws were designed to ensure the privilege of the white community to type exclusion of all others - millions of South Africans were forcibly removed from their homes and dumped outside cities - this legacy lives on in spatial planning in cities like Cape Town.
Today, current generations of South Africans are dealing with the very real damage that our recent history inflicted on the dignity, potential, unity, humanity, education, health and prospects of millions of South Africans.
The official opposition DA now declares that ‘race doesn’t matter’ and being black is somehow ‘a proxy for disadvantage’. The DA are dead wrong. Disadvantage was forced on black South Africans - and generations of their families still suffer as a result of it.
The DA truly deserve to be consigned to the dustbin of political history for their arrogant dismissal of the sufferings of millions of black South Africans. Their blatant ignorance of the current realities in our nation, and the causes of it, are beyond comprehension. Period.
