A thread:

Dear Kababayans,

I was in a public restroom at a mall yesterday and the long queue of women covering their noses hinted that someone could be defecating. It was okay to cover your nose because...

1
the smell was really unpleasant, but what’s not okay was to mock and deride the person for what she’s doing. I could hear some women say “Ano ba yan! Ang baho baho!” in a very irritated tone, as if nobody’s ever allowed to poop in public toilets.

2
Some even said “Ang tagal naman! Tuma*** kase eh!”.

This is one of the toxic Filipino attitudes we have. Public toilets are made exactly for that purpose, people— it’s where we both urinate and excrete waste. It’s the RIGHT PLACE for those things...

3
and so IT IS NOT EMBARRASSING TO POOP THERE AT ALL. Of course it’s noisome, but whose poop smells good? Cover your nose if you can’t take it BUT DON’T RIDICULE THE PERSON JUST BECAUSE SHE HAD A BM. As long as the person flushed the toilet bowl after,

4
and left no mess in the cubicle, it is 100% okay. Complain only when the person did otherwise. Practice this towards others and you won’t feel embarrassed yourself when it’s your turn to have a rumbling stomach and an emergency trip to the restroom.

5
Again, hindi po dapat nakakahiya, at lalong hindi kasalanan ang pagdumi sa public CR.

We shouldn’t let our behaviors be more foul-smelling than the poop.

Love,
Me https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="💖" title="Sparkling heart" aria-label="Emoji: Sparkling heart">
