🔥jamie newman vs NC state 🔥
first thing you notice when watching newman is how poised he looks in the pocket. he also possesses above average arm strength and can put the football wherever he damn well pleases. nice throw on 3rd and 11
in today’s NFL, a QB with the ability to run can add an entirely new dynamic to the passing game. here we see a nice RPO concept, and a well placed ball on the slant route. newman excels in the short/intermediate game.
I joke about kalen ballage being #bad, but I see more promise in this play from a 6’4, 229 lbs QB than I have from him over the years. it’s easy to compare newman’s game to cam but I’m not sure you’ll find a better NFL comparison. nice 20-yard TD run
I mentioned his accuracy earlier and it’s on full display during the three different games I’ve watched. here’s a perfectly placed ball to the wide open H-back for 6.
I mentioned Newman’s big body, but very rarely do you see a QB take the snap out of shotgun, leap over a lineman’s leg, and bully his way into the end zone. newman is a RB playing QB and the possibilities are endless.
another look đź‘€
this ball is thrown behind the receiver but he does a great job of selling left, before coming back to the WR in single coverage at the bottom of the screen. could’ve been a better throw, but not a bad pass that sets up a first and goal from the three.
newman’s ability to escape pressure and throw on the run is one of his greatest traits. here, he avoids pressure, keeps his eyes downfield and throws a strike to the wide open receiver for six.
this is one of his best throws of the game and comes as wake forest is driving late in the first half. newman throws a laser over the LBer and right on the money between two defenders.
although the receiver can’t make the grab, this play shows off newman’s arm strength and accuracy. truth is, very few QBs can throw this ball accurately from the right hash, 25-yards downfield, right on the money.
here’s a perfectly thrown deep ball by newman that hits the receiver in stride. you can’t ask for a better throw than this
in the end, newman is a rare talent that continues to fly under the radar in one of the best QB classes in recent memory. as a JR, it would be best for him to return for his SR year and continue to hone his craft. I do believe he has what it takes to be a starting QB in the NFL.
shoutout to @phillipdilling1, @xF13LDxK1NGx and @352_sports for bringing jamie newman to my attention
