Hi everyone, we've gotten a few negative comments about our straight ally design so I just wanted to clarify our reasoning for including it in the Kickstarter in this thread.
It's important to us for everyone to feel included in the fight for LGBT rights, and that includes our friends who are straight and support LGBT causes. We who made the campaign are all LGBT+, including the artist and the people running the campaign ...
Despite the fact that we are all LGBT, we heard many people who wanted to support the campaign who are straight in the furry community, and wanted a shirt that represents them. It's important to us to represent lots of different people, including people who are heterosexual.
In addition, we were careful in thinking about the wording and the presentation of the design - it is to represent straight allies, i.e. those who are straight and support LGBT rights. We used the ally flag design to help represent this, i.e. a rainbow A on a stripe background.
From the feedback we received, this is a breath of fresh air for many furries - the vast majority of people love to be able to support their LGBT+ friends with a fun design. We hope, for example, that LGBT people who see others wearing it will feel safe and accepted.
This thread is just to address the minority of people who did not want to see a straight ally design as part of our collection. I hope you understand our reasoning and treat everyone with kindness and respect, including people who are heterosexual.
