The Liberal critique of "New Atheism" is that they're too confrontational, rude, and mean. The Marxist critique of "New Atheism" is that they don't nearly go far enough and are cowards for it.

I also still find the term "New Atheism" pointless and objectively undefinable further than Atheists of the 21st century. They're just Atheists. They are no more Militant than Bertrand Russell. Lenin makes them look like cowards.

The one exception might be Christopher Hitchens whom was a Marxist himself and probably held the most proper Marxist take on religion of prominent public intellectuals.

The modern left however has become inherently reactionary on the religion issue by being sympathetic to it or at times even turning to and embracing it entirely. Marxists must reject this form of Postmodern reaction.
