The Dead Sea is a popular tourist attraction because of the fact that people float it in. The reason is that there’s no outlet from the sea, so all of the salt delivered to it by the Jordan River accumulates in it.
This excessive amount of salt causes the density of the water to be elevated (around 1.25 g/mL), and because a human’s density is roughly 1.00 g/mL, people float on top of the water much more than in other bodies of water.
The Dead Sea as we know it today formed between 10-15 thousand years ago, but salt has been deposited in the area for thousands (maybe millions) of years. Humans have settled around the lake since at least the time of Canaan, if not longer.
And yet, with all of its salt, the Dead Sea is still not as salty as @dawgsports and all the other grown men who bark at other people. https://www.dawgsports.com/2019/11/11/20958923/and-thats-when-i-knew-i-hated-auburn-georgia-auburn-football-uga-football-news-gus-malzhan-auistrash?utm_campaign=dawgsports&utm_content=entry&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter">https://www.dawgsports.com/2019/11/1...
