I’ve been thinking further on the transgender ‘debate’. My credo has always been live and let live, and its exactly the same on this issue. However, no matter your lifestyle, sexual orientation, sex or gender, there sometimes comes a point when your rights rub up against another

group’s rights. That is when reasoned debate, understanding and compromise are crucial. Unfortunately this seems to be in extremely short supply on this issue. Apparently if you support women you’re a transphobe.

If you believe in safe spaces for women, many of whom may have had previous traumatic experience with someone who is of the male sex, it appears that means you have no sympathy towards the difficulty that may cause some trans women. That’s not how life works.

I‘m happy to sit with anyone and discuss how we compromise, I’m happy to debate with anyone about what groups deserve/need/want if that debate will be held in a civilised & open way. I really hope we can have that discussion but what I’ve seen on Twitter to date makes me despair
