Godi media is misleading the nation on #JNUProtest. Let's see what's the reality. On 28th Oct #JNU IHA pass new hostel manual which includes hostel and mess fee hike, dress code, hostel timing and other changes. 1/n
Room rent hike: Earlier Room rent fee was 240 per annum and 120 per annum for single seater and double seater respectively. Now it raised to 7200 and 3600. 2/n
Service charges: Earlier service charges were nil and now it will be minimum 1700 per month. It includes maintenance, sanitation, cook charges. And these charges will increase in future because at present mess worker salary is being paid by university. 3/n
Because most of mess worker are govt employees. With time govt employees will be replaced by contract worker. And salary of these contract worker will be adjusted in mess bill. 4/n
Electricity and water charges: Earlier these charges were nil. But now meters will be installed and charges will be collected from students. It will not be subsidised as like Delhi govt scheme. Estimated amount is approximately 5000 to 6000 per annum. 5/n
Hostel security deposit: Earlier it was 5500 one time deposit but now it is 12000. This amount is refundable. 6/n
JNU demography: According to jnu internal report around 40% of students have parental income less than 12000 per month. It will completely exclude these students. And will severely effect other students.7/n
Reservation: Old hostel manual had reservation formula for hostel allotment but new one completely omitted reservation policy. 8/n
Dress code: New hostel manual talks about appropriate dress in mess and outside the hostel. What is this appropriate dress? 9/n
Hostel timing: Hostel timing is restricted to 11 pm. After that no entry will be allowed. Lots of student study in Library late night. It will effect their study. 10/n
HEFA loan: Modi govt has introduced HEFA loan. Higher Education Financing Agency. Now @ugc_india will grand fund for new course, classroom construction, equipment procurement, etc. University has to apply a loan for all these. And has to repay with interest. 11/n
University is not a factory which earn profit. This loan burden will be beared by student. And resulted into fee hike. 12/12 #jnuprotest
