I've pretty much finished my research for the petition. It's become pretty clear to me over the weeks that the problem with our Canadian media is not foreign ownership as such, but *concentration* of ownership.

I've gathered together for this thread articles relating to the huge problem of concentration in Canada. Please take a look at them, and let me know if you feel this is the better way to go.

I've consulted with someone who has not only expertise in petitions, but who agrees that concentration, not foreign ownership, is the problem.
“Living in New Brunswick where all of the English language daily papers are owned by a single large capitalist enterprise means that the voice of the corporate world speaks loudly and the coverage of labour focuses on confrontational and controversial events such as strikes /
“Bruce Livesey, a journalist at the National Observer, has written extensively on the family and its control over the media, including their tendency to bully any potential competition with extensive juridical and financial resources.”

“It’s tempting to think that what is happening in Canada is just part of a larger worldwide trend toward media concentration. But vertical integration in Canada is high compared to most other countries. Of 28 countries studied by the International Media Concentration /
“Canada’s largest newspaper companies, Torstar and Postmedia, are alleged to have broken competition laws after their exchange of 41 newspapers across the country in 2017, later shutting nearly all of them down and cutting 291 jobs.” https://thetyee.ca/News/2019/02/05/Torstar-Blocks-Release-of-Evidence/
Please take a look at the articles, and let me know if you agree with taking the direction I am suggesting.
Many thanks.
