The female deacon thing is so subtly sexist. Notice how it's ALWAYS about women entering into traditionally male spaces, not the other way around. That is because these people do not value the role women already play in the Church and/or they secretly despise womanhood.
The message is that women have to become men to add anything of value to the Church. Not a surprise when you have diva clergy thinking the Mass is all about them and parish council Susans with their military buzz cuts and their complete aversion to anything feminine.
Nobody ever questions what women already contribute. We represent the Church at every Mass, in our homes, and beyond. We are active participants, praying the Mass. If you think women only sit passively in the pew while the priest does all the work, you aren't Catholicing right.
