Rewatched the final fight from Far From Home and I found it really dull honestly
Hears a thread on my problems with it if you care to read it
But first let me make it clear I WANTED to like this movie.
Anyway, Spidey’s movements in this scene aren’t satisfying at all. He -
just swings around like a human wrecking ball falling into drones the majority of the time and he feels on rails like the early 2002 swinging did at times. He doesn’t get clipped by bullets despite making no effort to dodge them whilst swinging. He’s just floating around-
He swings in this fight with no dynamism, he just shoots a Web and dangles from it again yet this automatic firing drones can’t hit him whilst he doesn’t attempt to dodge whatsoever. This was already mastered in TASM2. -
This is a Spider-Man movie, they could’ve made Mysterio crest anything with his illusion drones but the majority of this finale is Spider-Man just swinging around fighting hunks of bullet shooting and throwing metal with a crap load of webs and explosions, it feels like -
something out of a Michael Bay Transformers movie. This is Mysterio but this finale is just so visually unappealing. The drones could’ve been a horde of the elementals or even something random like those bat demons from Spectacular, just literally anything with some character. -
It doesn’t help that the bridge was somehow easily evacuated without any authorities, the clock is ticking but why not have Spidey save someone other than his friends? Having random civilians in immediate danger for him to save would add so much tension and make him more heroic.-
Another thing which makes this fight drag on is the score. MG’s score for this movie isn’t bad in fact I find some to be an improvement over his score for HC. But this bridge fight literally has the same few notes and instrumentals with only minor changes repeated for almost -
3 damn minutes, it feels lazy and it isn’t anything unique and intense.
The Spider-sense scene was just kinda weird, I know it was homaging sort of to Spectacular but it was done so much better there. In the show there were illusions he needed to tell apart from real dangers and-
Different weapons being used against him. But in this it’s once again just characterless drones turned invisible which somehow miss Spider-Man despite his simply running in a straight line and making very little attempt to dodge them. And instead of fighting Mysterio it’s just -
Jake Gyllenhall in a mocap suit. I like the idea and I love Jake in this film but again it’s just removing colour and character from the actual fight itself.
K done
