-Kurdish politicians reject constitutional amendments in Iraq. Worth noting this is the 2nd time the Barzanis and Talabanis play an instrumental role in cementing corruption and sectarian rule in Iraq. In 2011 they sided with Maliki.
- To assume Kurdish politicians would act differently means there's a huge misunderstanding of the Kurdish issue in Iraq. After taking Kirkuk in 2017 in a Suleimani orchestrated operation, Kurds were left with zero trust in Iraq and very little leverage.
- Adel Abdul Mehdi has long been a reasonable man in one thing only: Kirkuk and the distribution of oil. He is without doubt the best option for KRG.
- This will undoubtedly anger the rest of Iraq for generations to come. More than 310 Iraqis gave their lives last month to achieve change. The perception that the "spoiled privileged" Kurds were an obstacle will be seen as nothing short of treason.
- Unless the Kurdish issue is addressed honestly, and that includes the option of seceding and the establishment of an independent Kurdish state, the KDP and PUK will continue looking after KRG's interests alone.
- Our political system is designed in a way to keep KRG interests at odds with the interests of the rest of the Iraqi nation. An independent Kurdistan would mean breaking free from their manipulation of the system.
- An Independent Kurdistan that does not annex non-Kurdish territory and maintains good relations with the rest of Iraq is a better option that a massive gap of mistrust between Iraqis and Kurds who are forced to be Iraqis. -End
