Hello! To celebrate #ARMYAppreciationDay, I decided to make this thread for anyone outside the fandom who was curious about the driving force behind @BTS_twt. So if you're curious, stick around. Welcome to my thread on why ARMY is unlike any fandom our generation has ever seen.
Before we get into anything, some of you might be wondering: what is the ARMY? ARMY, the fandom name of BTS, came around in 2013. It's an acronym that stands for "Adorable Representstive M.C.s for the Youth". It's...a unique name. 😂
It coincides with BTS' name, Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates to "Bulletproof Boyscouts"—another unique name with an equally unique meaning. Their aim since they debuted was to be the voice of the youth and speak up for those who can't, encouraging us to do the same.
Currently over 22M strong on Twitter alone and millions strong everywhere else, we're definitely something to be reckoned with. No matter where you go on the internet or in real life, there's ARMYs wherever you look.
You might have heard about us. We're a powerful force that can trend any hashtag, chart any album, and we have so much visibility on social media that we're just about as popular as the artists we're fans of 😅. But there's more to us than meets the eye.
ARMYs are more than just dedicated to supporting BTS. We're dedicated to supporting each other and people in need. One account that I cannot leave out of this is @OneInAnARMY. They're an account dedicated to charity projects and many ARMYs love to donate to the projects posted.
If you look here, you can see a map of all the projects ARMYs have done globally, including things like donating supplies to underprivileged children, donating water tanks to villages, and so on. So far, there has been projects done on every inhabitable continent on earth.
A project I really loved was when ARMYs who went to BTS' Citifield concert last year donated canned goods and blankets outside the stadium, put them all in boxes, and donated them to the homeless.
Other accounts like @CleanupARMY are also dedicated to good deeds such as cleanups in parks and beaches and other places. Events like these are often scheduled on BTS members' birthdays and are done in their name. This cleanup down here was for Jungkook's birthday this year! 👇🏾
ARMYs around the world have taken a page out of their books and gone on to do amazing things. ARMYs in Korea even planted a forest of trees for the nature-loving leader of BTS, RM, who saw what they did and congratulated them on Weverse. ☺️
ARMYs even give to each other! For the Saudi Arabia concert, ARMYs raised just over $2000 to buy tickets for people who couldn't afford them. Thanks to them, 100 fans were able to see BTS live without having to pay a dime.
Aside from many charity projects, there are accounts like @armybracelet, an account inspired to make BTS-inspired bracelets that anyone can make and wear. Millions of ARMYs around the world have made bracelets already and even make some to give out to other ARMYs!
There are ARMY-run tutor accounts dedicated to offering tutoring services to any ARMYs in school. All of this is for free and accessible to everyone.
There are ARMY translators who not only translate BTS content from Korean to other languages, but they also teach people Korean as well. Some amazing ones are @doolsetbangtan, @btstranslation7, @BTS_Trans, @JL_Kdiamond and so on.
There is @BTS_AHC, an ARMY-run account that advocates for mental health awareness and offers help to those who are struggling, they are a beacon of hope to those who live in an environment where they can't talk to anyone they know about their struggles.
There are also many intelligent ARMYs who do diligent research. An account I want to shout out is @ResearchBTS, run by an ARMY PhD student that is doing research on BTS and their social engagement. Their account is dedicated to sharing their findings with others.
ARMYs have even branched out into journalism! And now there are accounts like @ArmyscapeMag and @ARMYMAGofficial run by people who document all the lovely things that happen in this community. They've written some great articles so far and I encourage you to check them out!
There's an account for ARMYs who love to read! They recommend books to any ARMYs looking for something to add to their libraries, and hold live discussions on books they've read! @BTSBookClub_twt
There are accounts dedicated to sorting through all the storyline content in BTS' music videos and highlight reels and creating theories. The most popular one would probably be @xCeleste___, who posts videos of all her theories on YouTube.
There is even a website currently in construction for any newcomers that will be filled with information all about BTS. Never have I seen something like this done before by fans out of their own volition. @AllForARMY
And ARMYs kindness and positivity has not fallen on deaf ears! Many who have seen our positive impact have thanked us for the support. It's amazing what people can do when they're motivated to impact the world in a positive way.
To conclude, this thread was made so people are aware of the things that go on in the ARMY fandom. A lot of times due to a loud minority, we get misrepresented by the media as toxic and problematic, and it causes a lot of people to assume the worst of us.
I wanted to make this thread to uplift the vast majority of us who are working hard to spread BTS' message across the world and to help as many people as possible. I hope that anyone who didn't know who we are and what we can do has now seen the true impact of the ARMY.
I hope you enjoyed reading this. All I ask is that you please spread this far and wide to show your appreciation for these ARMYs who work so hard. Really and truly, ARMY is the greatest and most interconnected fandom community this world has ever seen.

Thank you. 💜
