The way internet scamming has advanced nearly got me fooled as a tech guy with an official documents, official mail and a website corresponding to the domain name of the mail.
Below is my story and how to be aware on the internet.
In October 24, 2019 I got a connection request on LinkedIn her name as Dr. Jodie Henderson. She told me about this summit and I decided to give it a try
So I decided to give it a try by actually emailing her. And the email conversation was structured in such a way that you& #39;ll believe they don& #39;t need something from you but it& #39;s a life changing event for you.
As requested by Dr. Jodie to inform her after messaging the coordinator, I decided to to send her an email and also a message on WhatsApp. Below is our lovely little chat
So I got another mail from them but this time the name was DR. MELINDA SMITH preforming a role as the secretary. I spent sleepless night researching and answering a couple of emails as interview questions since I couldn& #39;t add it up to my daily schedule.
During that sleepless night, I decided to do a background check on the organization. After my checks I realized they weren& #39;t on any of the social media platforms and their website wasn& #39;t secured(https://) and that got me thinking so decided to shoot me first mail of concern
As professional as they were, they brought up a nice convincing story in a threatening manner. So either you choose to back off or try not to avoid this life changing experience.
So after that mail, I decided to see if someone was also on the same road as me, so i asked on Twitter.
The truth was, the person I got talking to was also being scammed by another person or group of people but with a different domain name as http://programmer.net"> http://programmer.net  but using the same formality as the one used on me, and also different set of dates for the summit. So we came into an agreement that I& #39;ll investigate the issue at hand so we should exchange emails.
After exchanging mails, the organization(scammers) decided to email me again with an acceptance letter via email. The letter was so convincing that I nearly decided to stop the investigation.
After the acceptance letter I was told to email a hotel in senegal for payment of half of the hotel fees for a duration of six days. Seeing payment brought back the investigation idea but in other to do so I had to email the hotel first.
So me not wasting time, I emailed the hotel and they asked me where I was writing to them from(the country). Was that even necessary?
So, after a couple of hours the hotel emailed me back and said they found my name in the list of people whraf(the organization) sent to them. And that I should make payment before. They even added a policyhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷🏽‍♂️" title="Achselzuckender Mann (mittlerer Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckender Mann (mittlerer Hautton)">.
Seeing payment I decided to play another move by telling them I want to make payment at their locality.
So the hotel(scammers) decided not to reply me again after seeing that I want to come to their location and make payment. So I decided to email them as another victim.
The person I presented to them wasn& #39;t part of the list but they later came back with another email that they& #39;ve found me in the list whraf(the organization) sent to them. At this point I didn& #39;t know which magical list they were talking abouthttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Gesicht mit Freudentränen" aria-label="Emoji: Gesicht mit Freudentränen">
So I decided to do more digging on their domain registration and found out the same person or group registered the http://whraf.org"> http://whraf.org  and http://mariechavezholidaysresort.com"> http://mariechavezholidaysresort.com  domain. Their registration date and expiring date were https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤔" title="Denkendes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Denkendes Gesicht">
This lead me to another step, thus contacting the speakers on the list. Only one responded and said he knew nothing about the summit. At this level y& #39;all know it& #39;s a bloody scam right ?
The truth is @VinceMolinaro blocked me after I asked him about it. How difficult is it for our so called leaders to help light up an issue at hand unless they& #39;re a cooperate.
I would love to end here and conclude that y& #39;all should be alert on this internet of things. You could be easily scammed no matter how educated you are because they& #39;ll come to you with things you believe in or agree with. Am ever willing to help you anyway possible.
