Namco Sound Team appreciation thread ❤

2000-2003; a specific time where something fascinating happened, and then was never heard again since 🎶

Although I'm not well versed in music (or the team itself) I hope you find this as interesting as I do 🧐
I first noticed these 'unique sounds' in Tekken 4, where they're used abundantly across the entire soundtrack.

Then I heard them again in Ace Combat 4 and MotoGP 3. R Racing Evolution is I believe to be the last game to feature this music style.
Ace Combat 3 is where I believe this started.

Majority of the soundtrack still has a hint of Ridge Racer Type 4 'Acid Jazz', but there are some exceptions

Pay attention to that scratch/mechanical sound from the beginning, and repeated throughout
A track where this becomes even more apparent, is this one played during the credits.

That sound repeated straight from the start.
Ridge Racer V (2000)

The entire soundtrack features these 'mechanical' sounds, but none is more obvious than in "Gammon"

A sort of robotic voice can be hear producing it.
Ace Combat 4 (2001)

A somewhat different style of soundtrack, but those 'unique sounds' can still be heard.

Specifically, at *this* exact point during the opening theme.
Tekken 4 (2002)

This is where the 'unique sounds' are used the most. The entire soundtrack makes use of it in various ways.

The first example of this is during the character selection screen.
...and again during the credits using vocals.
MotoGP 3 (2003)

Perhaps my favourite use of these 'unique sounds' is during the trailer/intro.

It's use is so effective, and it completely transforms the atmosphere.
R Racing Evolution (2003)

The soundtrack in this game is mostly what I'd consider 'funk' with some electronic in the mix.

However, the menu tracks are quite different, and this one in particular is the last time I heard these 'unique sounds'.
After this, the next big game from Namco was Ace Combat 5. A game with a incredible soundtrack in it's own right, but it does not feature these 'unique sounds'

This was the last time I heard them in any game, and I kind of miss it.
I hope you found this interesting, or at the very least informative.

If someone else out there has a bigger knowledge in music, and understands what I'm trying to show here, than I'd love to read their take on it.
Reviving this thread because, I recently found one more namco game that fits into this perfectly.
