I haven’t done the maths exactly, because I’d rather soak in the bath drinking cyder... but I’m sure if I could isolate my situation, I would be better off under a conservative government. Lower corporation tax, lower taxes for those that are comfortable etc.
But I can’t and don’t want to isolate my situation. We teach our children to share, yet are happy to live in a society where some people live on the street and others have solid gold toilets in their private jets.
Hard work, initiative, perseverance and a willingness to take risks should be rewarded. I really don’t think we should have a tax system that demotivates people who want to work, earn and create opportunity. But part of that willingness to take risk, is supported by our
welfare system, our NHS and the support networks we are lucky enough to have. It seems all to easy to risk everything, knowing that you or your family won’t starve if one fails, but forget how important that safety net was/is if the risk pays off. There are too many self made
people, looking down their noses at people who are on their arse at the moment. Or maybe just people who are working and ok but need some extra support. If the current system didn’t let big corporations pay little or no tax, & underpay their staff, so taxpayers have to subsidise
Their business by topping up workers wages with tax credits, we wouldn’t be in this mess. Anyway. If you’ve escaped the rut of poverty, don’t have a short memory. There are lazy, useless poor people as well as thick as shit, lazy rich people. Some people have just had a leg up.
Boring political rant ends. More booze please Jeeves....
