Today is #ElectionDay in Kentucky. I took a look at some trends in the governor& #39;s race a couple of weeks ago dating back to 1975. That& #39;s the earliest gov results I could find on the Sec. of State& #39;s website, and covers 11 elections, through 2015 @LEX18News https://www.lex18.com/news/state/election-trends-in-the-governors-race">https://www.lex18.com/news/stat...
Since 1975, Democratic nominees captured the Governor& #39;s office 9 times compared to two for Republicans. Here are the 21 counties I found that have supported the winner in every governor& #39;s race in that time. @LEX18News
Out of Kentucky& #39;s 120 counties, 10 have supported the Democratic candidate in every governor& #39;s race.

Those counties are: Bath, Carroll, Elliott, Floyd, Franklin, Henderson, Jefferson, Marion, Rowan, and Union
These were 10 of the 14 counties that supported Jack Conway in the 2015 election for governor. The others were: Bourbon, Fayette, Nicholas and Wolfe.

Republican Matt Bevin won the other 106 counties.
There is only one county I found that has supported the Republican candidate in all 11 governor& #39;s races since 1975.

That is Jackson County... named for President Andrew Jackson, whose supporters founded the Democratic Party.
For decades, governor& #39;s could not seek immediate re-election after their term. That changed in the 1990& #39;s with an amendment. Since then, two Democrats have won re-election (Patton and Steve Beshear), and one Republican (Fletcher) lost his bid for four more years
Matt Bevin is just the second GOP candidate to seek re-election in that time.

Steve Beshear& #39;s son, Andy, is hoping to be the second Democrat to unseat an incumbent GOP governor.

Check in with @LEX18News for tonight& #39;s results. In the meantime...vote!
