Today is #ElectionDay in Kentucky. I took a look at some trends in the governor's race a couple of weeks ago dating back to 1975. That's the earliest gov results I could find on the Sec. of State's website, and covers 11 elections, through 2015 @LEX18News https://www.lex18.com/news/state/election-trends-in-the-governors-race
Since 1975, Democratic nominees captured the Governor's office 9 times compared to two for Republicans. Here are the 21 counties I found that have supported the winner in every governor's race in that time. @LEX18News
Out of Kentucky's 120 counties, 10 have supported the Democratic candidate in every governor's race.

Those counties are: Bath, Carroll, Elliott, Floyd, Franklin, Henderson, Jefferson, Marion, Rowan, and Union
These were 10 of the 14 counties that supported Jack Conway in the 2015 election for governor. The others were: Bourbon, Fayette, Nicholas and Wolfe.

Republican Matt Bevin won the other 106 counties.
There is only one county I found that has supported the Republican candidate in all 11 governor's races since 1975.

That is Jackson County... named for President Andrew Jackson, whose supporters founded the Democratic Party.
For decades, governor's could not seek immediate re-election after their term. That changed in the 1990's with an amendment. Since then, two Democrats have won re-election (Patton and Steve Beshear), and one Republican (Fletcher) lost his bid for four more years
Matt Bevin is just the second GOP candidate to seek re-election in that time.

Steve Beshear's son, Andy, is hoping to be the second Democrat to unseat an incumbent GOP governor.

Check in with @LEX18News for tonight's results. In the meantime...vote!
