People can and must drive solutions to climate change. We can't keep waiting around for someone else to solve it. Some things are really easy, some are more involved. Here is my list of some steps we can all take.
Reduce or eliminate beef/dairy consumption. Cows are a massive source of methane, beef/dairy is unhealthy. DOn't have to eliminate it, but if everyone cut consumption of beef/dairy by at least half, they'd be healthier and methane emissions would decline
Replace all non LED lights with LED lights. The bulbs are cheap enough that doing this saves enough money in electricity costs to pay for the bulb within a short amount of time then continues to spec money. Why are stores selling anything else?
Install smart thermostats that adjust to outside weather and know when you aren't home. They pay for themselves in energy cost savings then keep saving
Buy an EV for your next car. Save money on fuel/maintence + the cars last substantially longer. Anyone who drives a significant amount per day should replace their car today, it'll pay for itself in fuel savings.
The more we eliminate gas/diesel cars, the lower the domain for gasoline, which puts an end to things like fracking. It doesn't take regulation to make that no longer cost effective if we slash the miles driven on vehicles that run on fossil fuels.
Install battery backed solar. In many places solar is cheaper than paying for electricity and this reduces demand on the grid. Coal plants are closing. This can accelerate that.
Do an energy audit of your house to see where you can reduce the need for energy. The more you can reduce it, the less you'll have to spend on it, including spending less on solar.
The cost of EVs, solar, etc. is declining because of Moore's law and Wright's law. The more people who adopt these things, the faster the prices will decline. The more the prices decline, the more obsolete coal/natural gas/gasoline/diesel become.
The more prices decline, the more countries will be forced to change for economic reasons. Consumers have the power to drive these things, everyone needs to act. Even the deniers will have to change when the economics force it.
Plant trees. If you don't have anywhere to plan them, donate to groups who do. Trees pull greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere.
We have solutions, we need to aggressively adopt them on the individual level. The more of us who do that, the faster we can drive change.
No one thing is going to solve the problem, we have do everything we can, then figure out more we can do. What's certain to fail is waiting around and doing nothing while we wait for someone else to solve the problems for us.

The worst thing anyone can say is "doing x isn't going to solve the problem so it's a ways of time to do x". The problem is massive, our children/grandchildren's future depends on our doing everything we can to solve the problem.
