I love science but I miss art

I want to write, paint, and make pottery

I either need a house overlooking Santa Fe National Forest with a lot of lavender, or a cabin tucked into the mountains of Missoula

Gainful employment in science is the dream, but time for art is the goal
Usually irrelevant fact about me: I went to art school for several years for painting and music. I mostly work in acrylic because I’m impatient, and I played violin for 8 years. I don’t have time for this much anymore, sadly.
I’m terrible at self promotion because, like most artists, I have a love-hate relationship with my work. I don’t keep track of the commissions I do and can’t ever find the photos I’ve saved. I know, I know.
During my MS I taught art classes for a locally owned paint and sip business, and submitted designs for students as a contract artist. I created over 100 unique paintings that can be taught in 3 hrs! Here’s a painting I did for a “paint your pet” night of my parents’ dog.
When I got my MS in 2015 I was offered a solid lab technician job doing conservation genetics research on amphibians. But, the pay wasn’t enough to afford my health insurance, so I started my own paint and sip business. Look at my cute lil logo designed by my friend @GoadWilks
I haven’t operated the business since I started my PhD, and until about 2 months ago I hadn’t painted in nearly 3 years. I’m rusty given it’s been a long time, but here’s a peak of something early in the process. (Guess this makes me #TeamBirds?).
Anyway art is the best and I miss it, and now I want to learn how to make ceramics

But first, the degree, probably
Okay okay I’m already too excited for my notifications of those of you who do art, so add your work to this thread so we can see it!
