they're not exactly the same of course, but the eyes remind him so much of his first love, when seokjin was human. when he didn't feel this crushing loneliness every day, all his friends long gone, and other vampires steering clear of him bc of his reputation.
is it the universe's way of returning him his lost love, the one who was so cruelly snatched away from him? if he cannot bring himself to kill, then there is only one other option -

seokjin Very quickly learns that no, this boy is Nothing like his love. he is too energetic, too inquisitive, obnoxiously loud, disrespectful, round cheeked & starry eyed, with his loud unrestrained laugh & his irritating way of speaking silly words seokjin doesn't understand.

uh oh i can't stop thinking about this au!!! they don't talk/meet for a few days & sj finds himself strangely ... bored?? which is such a ridiculous and unfamiliar feeling. he spends some time re-reading all his favourite books & finds himself checking the phone jk made him buy -
& when it doesn't make that obnoxious sound it makes sometimes, he finds his mind going to worst-case scenarios. maybe he is hurt? maybe some other supernatural beings found him, naive & helpless? (not again, he can't let this happen again -) & before he knows it he is running -
- to jungkook, hoping he is not too late (not again not again). he finds the boy slumped over his desk in his room and for a brief second he feels fear like he had only felt once before, but then kook makes a sound and now he's sitting up, rubbing his eyes, mumbling "hy'ng?"
later, seokjin learns about "editing sprees" & "backlogged footage" & "sorry i forgot to call" and "you can call me too, you know? i thought you knew how to -" but rn he sits down carefully on jungkook's soft bed that smells like flowers & lets his constant chatter wash over him.
the first time he cooks for jungkook, it's bc the boy mentions not eating anything other than raw cereal and banana milk for 2 days straight ("it's not like it'll kill me lmaoo"). jungkook lights up at the first bite, closing his eyes in happiness, and seokjin feels warm.
"what did u put in this omg it's so good!"
"oh just the usual stuff: onions, tomatoes, some garlic -"
"wait -" jk screeches, spewing food everywhere. "u put in garlic?? u're trying to kill me or smt??"
"..... why would it -" jin pauses. "your movie lied to u again."

jungkook cries for an hour about how he has been painstakingly avoiding garlic ever since he got turned, and seokjin pats his back in sympathy, happy to have someone to share his dinner with sometimes.

seokjin used to avoid humans & public spaces, choosing instead to travel alone by night. now he finds himself sitting straight-backed & annoyed next to jk on the subway on their way to some haunted location for his new video. (he glares & complains but jk brings out the Eyes...)
he tries not to show it, but he loves jungkook's company, and he didn't realise how much he had isolated himself until he is there next to jk, surrounded by the mindless chatter of ppl, reading his book while the other vlogs or takes occasional pictures.
(jk loves taking snaps of jin looking ridiculously overdressed on public transport looking like a vintage cosplayer in his fancy coat with ruffles & buttons & silks -)

now that u know seokjin's backstory and that he lives a lonely existence after being ostracised by the supernatural community, it's time to tell you i lied. he does have one (1) supernatural visitor from time to time. pls say hello to park jimin: powerful witch with a big heart.
jimin knew both seokjin and his lover in the past, and had been friends with them after seokjin had helped him out of trouble one time. after the Incident, jimin found ways to communicate/keep tabs on jin to make sure he's alright, and managed to visit him covertly.
over the years it's pretty much an open secret that he still keeps in touch with jin, but he's too powerful & cunning for ppl to mess with. he runs a shop for his magical charms, spells and potions, but if you ask nicely and pay the right price he will also do divination for u.
he passes off as a regular (extremely pretty) human who tells ppl he majored in chemistry & has a natural affinity for cats. despite jin's protests and demands to leave him alone, jimin drops by every now and then to make sure jin is doing okay. jimin remembers how he used to be.
