People ask me a lot of the time why I support @juliancastro for President.

He prioritizes justice, goes where the people are hurting, and tells the truth about this nation.

He has changed my beliefs of what we can ask a candidate to be!! Here are some of the ways.
1. As a survivor, I know that @juliancastro sees us and will fight for our rights. At HUD, he instituted guidelines to protect survivors, including ensuring that survivors can determine safe housing for themselves.

2. I also know @juliancastro sees survivors and will fight for us, as he was the first 2020 candidate to say that we must impeach Brett Kavanaugh. https://twitter.com/JulianCastro/status/1173037649474572288?s=20
3. Additionally, I know @juliancastro sees survivors and will fight for us because we are included in his major policies :
Immigration - protect survivors from deportation
Disarming Hate - closing the Boyfriend Loophole
Housing - strengthen VAWA
4. More protections for survivors in @juliancastro’s policies:
Justice for Farmworkers - protect farmworkers from sexual harassment
Dignity for Domestic Workers - housing support for victims of human trafficking, protections from workplace harassment
6. I’m also a survivor of child abuse, and as a kid, I never imagined someone would want to support people like me.

@juliancastro has committed to investing billions in preventing neglect and child abuse, including developing new prevention strategies.
8. I already wrote a huge thread on how incredible his lead poisoning prevention plan is! You can read it here, but the gist is: It’s beyond anything I could’ve dreamed, living on a superfund site as a kid. : https://twitter.com/queer_spice/status/1138198284466450434
9. As far as being part of #QueersforCastro, nothing matters more to me than - @juliancastro and @TXCivilRights went to Matamoros, Mexico and accompanied a group of LGBTQ and disabled migrants into the US for their asylum applications. https://bit.ly/2N8flgJ
10. @juliancastro and @TXCivilRights tried to protect those 12 immigrants from the serious risk of violence in Matamoros. CBP sent them back. But Julián went there, spoke with them, tried to help them, escorted them across the border. There is no better allyship than that.
11. This time requires moral clarity and progressive vision on immigration.

@juliancastro was the first candidate to propose an immigration plan, and it is truly progressive.

He pushed the whole field left on decriminalization.
12. @juliancastro was the only candidate to visit Edith Espinal, an immigrant woman staying in sanctuary at a church in Columbus so that she won’t be deported. https://twitter.com/JulianCastro/status/1184093068942811149?s=20
13. @juliancastro KNEW that he would be pigeon-holed, but he decided to be brave and compassionate and not shy away from the moral imperative of our time. https://twitter.com/JulianCastro/status/1182090552524918784
14. When @juliancastro went to Matamoros, and crossed the US-Mexico Border with those 12 asylum seekers, he sat and he prayed for Oscar and Valeria and the other immigrants who have died in the Rio Grande. When I saw the photo, I wept.
15. Even more than being a moral leader on immigration, @juliancastro is pushing smart, compassionate, progressive immigration policy that would genuinely change our immigration system for the better. https://bit.ly/34hm0fs
16. “Police violence is also gun violence.” - @juliancastro at the October debate. https://twitter.com/juliancastro/status/1184289371119390720?lang=en
17. @juliancastro came out with the first Police Reform plan, and it made clear that it is genuinely intended to stop police from murdering black and brown people with impunity. https://bit.ly/2PA1sdJ
19. In that Op-Ed, @juliancastro said ‘We can ensure that every person and every community is able to thrive and have equal justice under the law, but we need to focus on an effective first chance for everyone.”

Nothing captures that more than his First Chance Plan.
20. “ I will focus our resources on supporting state efforts to abolish youth prisons and redirect money saved directly into community-based, accessible, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate programs.” - @JulianCastro https://bit.ly/2qRdgOv
21. @juliancastro goes where so many politicians don’t.
Recently, he went to the DC Jail to meet with people incarcerated there and listen to them about criminal justice reform. https://twitter.com/SawyerHackett/status/1188860878734708737?s=20
23. @juliancastro visited the storm drain tunnels under Las Vegas, where hundreds of homeless folks stay. https://twitter.com/JulianCastro/status/1122312483635593217?s=20
24. There is this also incredible thread about @juliancastro and his policies benefiting disabled people, which is so incredible, as a disabled person. This VERY, VERY good thread, please read this thread https://twitter.com/katimcf/status/1186762959504203776?s=20
It comes down to : every policy @JulianCastro has put forward is intersectional, justice-oriented, evidence-based, activist-informed. And so are all the actions he takes.
