In September, US-based NPR producer (was made to?) quit over a tweet offending Hindus.
In India, you can call for the genocide of Muslims on television channels and receive funding from the Uttar Pradesh government. Expect no outrage. https://www.newslaundry.com/2019/10/28/bloodlust-tv-bigotry-on-suresh-chavhankes-sudarshan-news-sponsored-by-the-taxpayer">https://www.newslaundry.com/2019/10/2...

Suresh Chavhanke& #39;s channel routinely peddles lies, airs voices that call for the killings of Muslims and indulges in outright riot-mongering. The communal hate-mongering is sponsored by the Uttar Pradesh government. And, therefore, by the taxpayer.
Chavhanke is not some random anchor bloodlusting on TV. He was invited for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing in, is often spotted with BJP leaders, and attended the recent Diwali party for select journalists hosted by Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar.
You can ignore him and say no one watches his channel (I sure hope no one does). But that& #39;s not the point. The point is that someone who openly indulges in riot-mongering receives patronage from the government of the day in terms of ad money and invitations.
Here& #39;s Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry congratulating him on his journalism! https://twitter.com/PiyushGoyal/status/1160893241237135361">https://twitter.com/PiyushGoy...

We have sent the following questions to Chief Minister @myogiadityanath’s office as well as Uttar Pradesh’s Department of Information and Public Relations. No response yet.
