All the boycotts and threats Beyoncé received with her political and social stance after Formation. A thread (English version)
First of all it is very important to start this THREAD by saying that in 2015 the US was going through a very critical moment in relation to the black community. Cases of police abuse, racism in universities, in awards such as the Oscars ... Anyway, a very absurd moment
Behold, at the beginning of 2016, amid all the controversy comes “Formation”. Opening with the iconic phrase of Messy Mya, a black, gay artist, who was KILLED in 2010: "What happened in New Orleans?". In this first moment of music we already knew what would come.
Throughout the song, we find a politicized Beyoncé, AWARE of what she's doing. Denouncing the brutality of the police community with blacks and talking about the government's disrespect for the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
POLICE COMMUNITY Along with the muddy Formation, the internet stopped and reactions were immediate. Numerous WHITE representatives from the American police community went to the networks to speak out. They even set up POLICE LIVES MATTERS in response.
Quickly countless people began to organize and went to Beyoncé networks to attack accusing her of being against the work of the police. American TV began to report the controversy. ABC even wrote in the newspapers of the time:
In the midst of all the controversy, Beyonce came up with his Super Bowl performance. Referring to black panthers. With strong choreography reassembling blacks as targets. This moment made the situation even worse.
On this day Beyonce announced the dates of the US Formation Tour. In response, the police organized themselves into groups across the country and began to set dates for the shows in the cities so that they would not work these days. Not offering protection to people at events.
Many black communities even offered Beyoncé protection if the police didn't do their job! Even the US "Islamic Nation" volunteered to protect Beyonce and the people at their shows in response to the police.
Boycott of Politicians The boycott campaign over Formation was so strong that it triggered a series of positions by governors, congressmen and politicians. All declaring that Beyonce was being "futile" and "vulgar
RUDY GIULIANI

At the time, the former mayor of New York took a stand against Beyonce's black empowerment speech by accusing her of telling lies. The politician sympathized with the police and denied any hint of racism in the middle.
MIKE HUCKABEE
Formerly Arkansas former right-wing governor Mike Huckabee said in a strong interview with the TV Daily Show that Beyonce was being “vulgar”, “rude” and encouraging children to be strippers
PETER T KING
The Republican congressman even asked his voters not to listen to Beyoncé. Through a Facebook post the politician said Beyoncé had talent but “NO ONE SHOULD CARE ABOUT WHAT SHE THINK ABOUT ANY MATTER IN THE USA
DONALD TRUMP
The former US presidential candidate rated Beyoncé's Super Bowl performance as “RIDICULUS” and “INAPPROPRIATE”. He even said it was a scandal what she was trying to do.
And several other politicians began to suggest that people avoid playing Beyoncé songs because it would be associated with "inappropriate" and "vulgar." Most of them far right.
RADIO BOYCOTT
With all the controversy spreading, numerous American radio stations have begun to avoid playing Beyoncé's new tracks. Billboard even ran a story about it wondering how Bey could sell their albums so well? Their songs didn't play.
To this day, many traditional pop radios do NOT play Beyoncé in their programming. As you know, this kind of action strongly impacts Bey's chart and sales
PEPSI BOYCOTT
As many know, Pepsi was the sponsor of the Super Bowl. Several groups came together and made manifest for the company CANCEL Beyoncé's presentation at the event, as well as cancel the contract with Bey. Otherwise they would not consume your products.
And that's what happened, during the Beyoncé performance, several people turned off the television. They went to protest against her. The tag #BoycottBeyonce it was one of the most talked about subjects on the day.
But Pepsi, which had been a Beyoncé partner for a long time, has not given in to the threats. It is said that on the day of Bey's performance, she redoubled the security scheme around her and the dancers. Even so, it continued in perfomance.
BEYONCE FAMILY ATTACK
With all the hatred of the conservative community, a lot of people started attacking Beyonce's daughter with racist messages. Tina, Bey's mother even asked them to stop accusing her family as they were doing. It was surreal.
In the midst of all the chaotic situation, Beyonce spoke up and said that "Formation" was not against the police, BUT AGAINST INJUSTICE. Next I'll leave an excerpt of the interview for Elle Magazine.
"Whoever interpreted my message as 'anti-police' is completely wrong. I have a lot of admiration and respect for the police officers and their families, who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But I will be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Is different."
If celebrating my roots and my culture during Black History Month bothered anyone, those feelings existed long before the video and long before me. "
I'm proud of what we created (Formation) and I'm proud to be part of a conversation that is moving things forward in a positive way."
This is it. It is a reflection on all that Beyoncé symbolizes today, about its strength to CONTINUE talking about these themes. About continuing to impact your art, always leaving an incredible and important legacy!
