cql added so many details to show sizhui was more than just a disciple for lwj, even before we find out he’s lwj’s son:

1. him remembering wangxian.mp3
2. lwj telling him to rest after dismissing others
3. lwj not silencing him alone
4. lwj giving his & wwx’s lantern to him

5. the fact that sizhui can actually talk back to lwj, something no other disciple does,,,, it’s mild as an argument but. lwj doesn’t even silence him for it.

6. the fact that wwx was reminded of lwj when he saw sizhui, when there are 7 other disciples there

and then there are the moments from the book which cql also kept:

7. only lwj’s son, the sect leaders nephew could have the authority to offer to replace 400 nets- which were said to have cost a lot.

8. this is also from the book. in the book, sizhui felt closer to wen ning, despite everthing- despite even his reputation, because he spoke well of hanguang jun.

and sizhui talks about how his parents named him, and how lwj gave him his courtesy name.

9. the fact that lwj canonically taught sizhui how to play guqin himself, and how to play inquiry- something only lan clan members can do.

the fact that lwj even praised him to others,,,, pride and vanity may be forbidden but lwj is still a proud father.

10. lwj tried his best but, he was still 20 and with no experience of children at all. and it shows. he really just. fed his son carrots and buried him in rabbits and hoped for the best huh? a learning curve I guess.

11. another of cql’s additions but the fact that sizhui remembered lwj’s kindness and maybe even kept a gift lwj gave him for 16-17 years, even after he lost his memory, and even though he lived with lwj himself.

and then his own uncle gave him the same gift his father did.

12. cql’s addition and I like to think lwj is always around and ready in case sizhui needs him.

like jingyi doubted lwj could come in time but:
- sizhui was absolutely sure he would
- lwj was close enough to appear in minutes, and he was already watching the sky for a signal.

13. this doesnt really signify much- it’s a lan sect thing- but I love how sizhui’s sword is an exact replica of his father’s.

14. only sizhui, as lwj’s son, would’ve dared to break rank and run back. and only he would’ve without lwj’s permission thrown himself down next to wwx. they have a far more informal relationship than lwj and any other disciple.

and the connection wn and wwx and sizhui feel.
