In this context, 'The Proclamation of Jambu Dweepa' (AKA 'Tiruchirappalli Declaration') of June 1801 was issued by the indomitable Marudhu brothers, which called for a wholesale uprising, awakening of Indians, spurred on by pan-Indian feelings & a sense of patriotic nationalism.
As, Professor K Rajayyan says, "...an all India concept inspired the Proclamation..."

So much of the divisive dravidian narratives.

Our forefathers were much more knowledgeable, patriotic, stellar & brave...
The whole 'Proclamation of Jambudweepa' text is here in 3 images, translated faithfully in English. There were two versions of it, the Srirangam version had the additional part, appealing to the authority and blessings of the learned folks there...
Of course there were quislings of the British, like Vijaya Raghunatha Thodaiman from Pudukkottai, Kerala's Balarama Varma - and many others at that time - who were not swayed by any feelings of Bharathiyatha, but these characters are always puzzling... but...
But, we should remember that there is this very interesting (and sad) backstabbing incident, that led to the downfall of the Kalaiyaar-koil ('Abode of the Bull Temple') - the strong capital/fort of the Marudhu brothers. Weep.

If we could pinpoint ONE major factor for the destruction, despoliation & subsequent slaughter of the rebel warriors including Marudhu brothers + end to 1790-1801 serial battles - then this gent would be it.

But, what is important is the happy ending. He got his reward. Good.
