welcome to my ted talk, unlasting is a kiriyuji song and in this thread i will proceed to explain in detail how every verse in the song is a direct reference to their relationship (1/84)

it& #39;s all pretty self explanatory, but this line especially....... to me, this is about eugeo& #39;s spirit (or fluctlight if you will) in this case remaining by kirito& #39;s side and eventually helping him up again, so he can move forward once more
now, going into the actual song
this is kirito. that& #39;s it. the boy. constantly fronting and pretending he& #39;s doing ok, from the very start of the series up until his time in UW... always putting on a smile and never letting himself grieve the way he needs to

on the one hand, this could be about their childhood together, but most of all i feel like this is about their time together as partners up until eugeo& #39;s death.
yeah, sure, kirito was once again trapped in a death game and that sucks, but he genuinely enjoyed the time he spent in UW in spite of everything
UW was a place where nobody knew him and so he didn& #39;t have to act according to anyone& #39;s expectations. he could be *himself* and he was able to connect with one specific person in a way he had never been able to, before

when i first listened to this part of the chorus my immediate reaction was DAMN THAT& #39;S GAY, and i stand by that.... but now that i& #39;ve had time to mull over it, i& #39;d like to make it even more meaningful
kaori (scent) is a word that is most commonly used for a flower& #39;s fragrance. at this point, i think we& #39;re all very familiar with how big of a thing flowers are in alicization both in-universe and also as themes throughout the story, yes?

so yeah, of course kirito knows what eugeo& #39;s scent smells like bc they fucking slept and lived together for two years, but it& #39;s also really poetic when you think about how strongly flower-coded eugeo is in general
i have nothing super insightful to say about this. this is just kirito& #39;s wish for eugeo to still be out there somewhere, even if he& #39;s crying as well.

back to kirito being 200% done with life and wanting nothing but sweet death& #39;s embrace. this is something that "till the end" touches on a bit too, tho... he& #39;s so tired... he& #39;s gone through so much... and yet he keeps needing to pull through and move forward, for everyone& #39;s sake
this is also self-explanatory! but also it& #39;s a bit that also works from eugeo& #39;s pov. the biggest thing here is that these are two people who have been separated and cannot meet again -- at least not easily. but they still yearn for it.

seasons turning, all the time they spent together both as kids and then later as teens-into-adults. but also, i feel like both winter and summer are a direct reference to eugeo and kirito respectively
i don& #39;t need to explain why or how eugeo is winter, i think. but kirito, especially in his UW life, just screams summer to me. especially as a kid, when his skin is way more tanned by the sun than the other two& #39;s... and also bc of his extroverted and cheerful personality
(a brief pause for all of us to think about how happy kirito was as a kid in UW and how this is the normal childhood he deserved... surrounded by friends who loved him instead of feeling unwanted and isolating himself from everyone)
again, kirito moving on and going back to his normal life... but still, there& #39;s eugeo& #39;s absence. he lost and irreplaceable partner that meant the world to him, and that sadness will stay for him forever.
ankari pointed this out the other day, but to me this is so blatant. at the end of it all, the one who manages to help kirito get up once more is eugeo& #39;s fluctlight. no matter how hard everyone else tries, kirito keeps rejecting them.

aaaaand that& #39;s it! as far as i know no one has been able to decipher the final english lines in the song yet, but if they end up being relevant too once the official version is released, i will probably come back to this thread to add them as well

SHIT WAIT, i forgot one last thing!! this isn& #39;t specifically about kiriyuji/yujikiri, but i *loooove* the autotune in lisa& #39;s voice that becomes more obvious at times, up until the end of the song where it sounds outright glitchy
normally i hate this, but in this specific song it feels like it was almost done on purpose, as a reference to the fact that UW is a digital world
