I had the pleasure of visiting Mountain, WI this past weekend and assisting with races at Doty’s Dusty Dog Dryland Race! Follow this thread for all the sled dogs, racing, and friends you can handle! #uglydogs #dotydogs #ddddr #MusherTwitter #sleddogs
The first thing I did was check in to my lodging at Crab n Jacks! It sits on the edge of the Wolf River and the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Fall colors were at peak. I may have blown the circuit in the room within the first 10 seconds, but settled in quickly!
After that, I headed to Skinny Dave’s for the musher meeting and bib draw! This is where I ran into my musher friends and fellow ugly dogs! @BlairBraverman @QuinceMountain @NewtonMarshall @marneleigh @katiek_wanders
Saturday morning, I woke up bright and early to head to the race! The international dog bus arrived and we began harnessing dogs for the races. Beth and I then went to scout locations in the bushes and corn around the track and hills to get the best view for pictures!
The first race was adult 4 dog rig. Q ran with Pepe, Clem, Spike, and Colbert! Check out those tongues!
About an hour later, it was time for adult 6 dog rig! Q ran with Pete, Boo, Biggie, Willow, and Tenzing. If you’re wondering where the sixth dog is, it was Weegee, and he got out of his harness on the way up to the chute and Q had to leave without him! Newton also raced six dogs.
Next up, it was Blair’s turn with 2 dog scooter races! She ran with Jules and Zagat. It was their first time racing! She was also kind enough to wear my GoPro on her helmet...stay tuned for that footage within the next couple days! We’ll get to see the race from her viewpoint.
After a quick lunch, it was Blair’s turn again, this time with adult one dog scooter. She raced with Slim. I believe it was also his first time racing and he got a little distracted at times. He even went the wrong way briefly, but he figured it out!
The last race on Saturday was adult canicross. @marneleigh ran with Boudica! Also, Erin from @OtterRunKennel ran with Ebb. Erin came in second for canicross!
After the races, several of us went north of Mountain to Big Easel Gallery and Bistro. It was basically a restaurant based out of someone’s living room that served a seven course meal! The art, music, and food were phenomenal.
Sunday’s races were a repeat of Saturday’s, with the goal of bettering your time and having the fastest overall times. However, Q’s cart broke the day before so he used an ATV in neutral for the dogs to pull. These pics show several #uglydogs walking Q and team up to the chute!
When 2 dog scooter races came around again, Blair tried ballet-scooter-joring with Zagat and Jules. 12/10 for style points! Check out these other floofs too.
But guys...after Bler finished her races...I GOT TO GO SCOOTER-JORING!! Thank you to Spike and Willow for pulling me! They were great sports for my rookie skills.
Between races, I was able to cuddle all of the doggos! Please enjoy these pictures of BOO and all of his feelings. He has stolen my heart, as I knew he would. There will definitely be more Boo pictures in the near future. 
Pepe is the sweetest, most brilliant, and athletic dog I’ve met.
Y’all, Grinch was there. Aka Gronch, Grænch, Greeeench, etc. He is very goofy, very strong, and very cute. However, he’s not racing much now due to arthritis in his wrists. He came for moral support and because several of us wanted to see him to report back to the #uglydogs
Clem was there too. Super floofy. Wants endless butt scritches. Plz don’t stop.
Little Lambeau Leap made an appearance! She definitely lives up to her name. She’s getting so big though!
As mentioned before, Weegee was there, but didn’t make it to the chute to run his race. He did make it to my heart though...such a sweet doggo!!
Tenzing wanted to say hi to everyone and also give hugs.
Jules also wants some love! Come here...I got you!!
Boudica made a quick appearance before running canicross with @marneleigh this weekend!
I don’t know who’s dogs these were but OMG they’re wearing DOGGLES!! It was a little muddy Sunday after rain. Too cute!
This is one of Lisa’s dogs, Seal. Possibly the softest dog I’ve ever pet. Smol but mighty!
Obviously, the dogs were the stars of the show. But I did make several new human friends this past weekend as well! @marneleigh @AddisonBrothers @katiek_wanders @nuclearkatie @MariePaddock and others!!
I cannot thank @BlairBraverman and @QuinceMountain enough for showing me the ropes of dog sled racing this weekend! They are some of the most genuine, nice, and wonderful people I’ve ever met. I am so glad to call them my friends and I know this is just the beginning!

Spike is a big, strong, super sweet 12/10 good boy. Can’t thank him enough for taking me on my first scooter-joring adventure! @BlairBraverman smile is contagious too
Colbert was a quiet guy for the brief time I saw him. He ran with Q in the four dog rig race. Smaller than I imagined after eating all those chicken skins. I made the mistake of calling him Col-bert and was shocked to find out his name is pronounced Col-BEAR! Oops. Lol
You all have heard of the Jamaican bobsled team right? Well have you heard of the Jamaican dog sled team?! Newton Marshall with Flying K Kennels in Lily, WI is just that! He’s run the Iditarod four times and was centerfold for sports illustrated in 2010! Ya mon! @NewtonMarshall

I can’t not share this adorable picture of @marneleigh and T-Boone from @OtterRunKennel at Doty! Several of us #uglydogs took turns hanging out with him. It was a pleasure to meet Erin and Chad as well! Maybe next time I’ll get to me the amazing Martha too.
I decided to try and be a little more creative with my pumpkin this year and carve Boo! I’m not artistic AT ALL, and it was a little tricky, but I love how it turned out!! What do you think? #uglydogs

Have I talked about Slim yet? He’s a big yearling &he raced for the first time ever at Doty last weekend! He got a little distracted at times but figured it out and finished his races with Blair on the scooter. Scroll up in this thread to see part of his race in my YouTube video.
You may recall that Zagat also raced for the first time last weekend and gained a lot of confidence on his second run. He likes to give lots of kisses and may have inadvertently got me on the mouth here
