Young little werewolf bakugo stumbles upon a little human boy lost in the woods. He takes the "cub" home to his pack and his mom, who is the Alpha, is very confused.

"That's not a werewolf you brat !" But Eijirou is so small and helpless that she keeps him.
Little Eijirou is too cute and he loves petting Katsuki's fur when he's in his wolf form. Mitsuki can see the way her son sticks to the kid's side and the way Katsuki gets flustered from his attention.

And well, it looks like shes adopting a son.
Of course Mitsuki explains early to Katsuki what Eijirou is. And her cub accepts it surprisingly well, says Ei is more of a wolf than shitty Deku will ever be.
But little Ei is a human and he doesnt understand that. Grumbles about how he cant shift into a wolf form and how he always loses when they play fight.
But he still admires his brother a lot. Katsuki is the strongest and fastest of all the cubs. Learns the quickest and is always willing to help Ei learn.

It's quite obvious Katsuki will be the next Pack Alpha.
((ok i cant get it out of my head so let me write it out real quick))
Eventually, they end up having to tell Eijirou that no, he isn't like them, he isn't going to ever be able to shift because he's a human. Not a werewolf. And it's against their belief to turn a human, it's too dangerous. But they still love him and he's still /family/.
Although to Katsuki he might be something more than that.
Eijirou isn't as heartbroken and devastated as they thought he'd be. He admits that he figured something was up. And said that the day Katsuki found him lost in the woods, he knew he was different.
But Ei isn't going to let that stop him.

So he adapts and pushes forward. Learns different techniques to keep up with the pack. Runs extra hard and trains even harder.
Eventually Katsuki gifts him a wolf pelt and Eijirou wears it with pride. Drapes the fur over his shoulders and back while he goes running with his pack.
But soon Katsuki reaches the age where he must take over the pack as Alpha. Where he must choose a mate to help him lead.

And his parents suggest Izuku. He was a nice and sweet boy.
But Katsuki snarls at the suggestion, tells them to fuck off and that he'd never take that loser as a mate.
They know Katsuki wants to choose Eijirou. Sees it by the way he courts him and gifts things to him, brings him food and lets the boy curl up with him while they sleep.

But Eijirou doesn't understand any of that. Just thinks Katsuki is being a good packmate and brother.
Mitsuki pities her son.

Knows poor Katsuki would never feel the bond of a real mate because he's in love with a human boy.
It was bound to happen and Mitsuki knows it's partially her fault for letting the two always be so close.
Ever since they were little, Eijirou would sleep snuggled next to Katsuki's wolf form. Would let Katsuki lick him awake in the mornings. Would let the blond rub his scent into him. Claim that Ei was /his/ brother and /his/ best friend so no deku, you can't fucking talk to him.
And Katsuki would let Eijirou ride on his back after a long run through the woods. Let Ei give him kisses on his nose, little wet licks with his human tongue. Encourage Ei that he doesn't need to be a wolf to be strong.

And really, it was obvious they belonged together.
Katsuki takes his position as Pack Alpha with no mate.

He's strong and fast and fearless. So word gets around quick.

Soon, there are other packs that start to come by.
Other packs with daughters and omega sons that wish to form alliances. That would prefer their pack under the protection of Bakugou Katsuki.

His parents try to urge him to give someone a chance.

But Katsuki refuses.
With every pack he curses and yells and growls at them to leave, to get the fuck off his territory and that he doesn't want any of their useless extras.

His packmates always snicker and laugh because they know exactly why he does it.
Everything seems to go by fine until one day a pack arrives unannounced. And a member it catches a whiff of a scent.

"Is that a human?"

Eijirou is wandering the grounds, searching for Katsuki, his wolf pelt still proudly draped over his shoulders.
The foreign werewolf is growling low and threatening, his teeth bared.

"Katsuki! Where are you - what's going on ?"

But Katsuki ignores him, eyes on the wolf in front of him.

"Submit." he snarls.
But the were doesn't listen, just shifts quick and lunges at Ei, at his /mate/.

Katsuki is quicker though.

Is shifted into his wolf form and already has his jaw clamped around the wolf's neck within seconds.
It breaks under the pressure and there's blood sputtering out and - and he's killed a member of their pack.

God damn it.

The foreign pack scurries away after that. And Katsuki doesn't doubt that rumors will spread about his cruelty.
Katsuki checks on Eijirou. Makes sure he's not hurt before he goes back to the den to sulk.

The pack knows he didn't mean to. That he was just protecting Eijirou.

But it shakes Katsuki to the core.
He could have lost Eijirou. Ended up killing a fellow werewolf because of it.

Eijirou finds him in the den.

Wipes away the blood still on his face and gives him forehead kisses.

Katsuki makes sure to rub his scent all over Eijirou that night.
Everything goes by well.

Hell, even better than before because now Katsuki doesn't have annoying packs stopping by anymore to try court him. Doesn't have his parents nagging him to give them a chance.

It looks like the incident scared everyone off.
At least that's what he thought.

Until one day, when Katsuki is showing Denki for the 4th fucking time how to cultivate medicinal herbs, he gets a weird nagging feeling at the back of his mind.

Like something was wrong.
He quickly shuts Denki up and listens. Sniffs the air, and /fuck/, they're upwind from the den.

He can't get a good scent at all.

Within seconds he's shifted into his wolf form and is racing back, his heart beating wildly.
There's a terrible sinking feeling in his gut when he gets there and he can't smell Eijirou.
The more he sniffs the air the more he realizes just how bad the situation is. Realizes exactly what fired off his instincts.

It's the smell of fresh blood and Izuku's scent, filled with distress and pain.

He runs as fast as he can.
He finds Izuku at the edge of their border. His fur is matted in blood and he's struggling to get up on all fours but his back leg is wounded and there's cuts on his nape and sides.

"Deku! Wh- what happened?"
But Izuku just whines, his ears pressing back and tail tucking between his legs.

Katsuki steps up to him, pets soothingly at his fur, his hands coming up covered in blood.

"We need to get you back to the den."
Izuku shakes his head before shifting back to his human form, painfully and agonizingly slow. In this form, Katsuki can see the blood and bites and claw marks much more clearly.

Anger crawls up his throat in a deep growl.
"Who did this to you?"
"It was- a Werewolf, K-Kacchan-" And Izuku is sobbing, tears streaming freely "I tried fighting him off, I tried - he was too fast - too strong. I'm sorry - I'm so sorry, Eichan is -"

Katsuki feels his veins turn to ice as he zeroes in on Deku's words.

"Eichan is gone."
Katsuki blinks.

"H-He took him, Kacchan." Izuku chokes out, "The Alpha - he came just for Ei-"

Katsuki snarls, loud and feral. The hole in his stomach gets worse.

An Alpha.

A fucking /alpha/ has his mate.
Fuck.Fuck.FUCK.

He paces back and forth, sniffing the air, in an attempt to catch some sort of trace of the alpha or Eijirou's scent.

"I can't smell him, Deku. I cant fucking smell him!"

Izuku just whines and looks down at his hands. His eyes still overflowing with tears.
"I have to find him-"

"Wait, Kacchan, please! We need to think. He came just for Eichan. The pack needs to hear-"

"Argh! Shut up - god damn it, just shut up!" he tugs at his locks in frustration, red eyes brewing chaos. "I fucking know that!"
Katsuki shifts right there, into his wolf form, quick and flawless.

And howls. Loud, long, and daunting.

It echoes throughout the forest. Shakes Deku to his core. Leaves an eery silence in its wake.

It was a promise.
And then - his pack howls back. Responding to his call.
Deku tells him everything he knows.

Describes to him the alpha. Built big like a bear with auburn fur. Entered from the Southern border /downwind/ from the den.

Says the Alpha told him about how he heard a little human was in this pack and he 'just had to see for himself. '
Eijirou had been out training when Deku heard his yelp and came to check up on him.

He remembers seeing him splayed on the ground, knocked unconscious with the hulking wolf looming over him.

Deku had fought with everything he had but it wasn't enough.
The alpha had ripped and torn into him mercilessly, bit into his hind leg with its strong maw and thrown him hard against a tree. And then he must have passed out for a bit.

Because when he woke, the alpha and Eijirou were long gone. And that's when Katsuki found him.
"Why - Why would he take him, Kacchan? What if he's hurt?"

"I dont know - I dont fucking know, okay!"

Katsuki can only pray that he finds Eijirou in time. Can only hope that this is all some stupid game the Alpha is playing, hopes that Eijirou is still alive.
When their packmates arrive, Katsuki orders them to take Deku home, watch over the den while he's gone.

They argue that he shouldn't go alone. Mina demands she go with him with tears in her eyes. Denki and Hanta refuse to let their alpha go by himself.
Eijirou is their pack brother too, they say. They know Katsuki loves him, but they all love him too.

So Katsuki allows it.

They spend days searching the southern border and beyond. Trying to catch a scent of Eijirou and the alpha that stole him.
But the alpha was smart, hid his scent well and made sure to lead them off his trail by pre-scenting patches of trees and brush.

They follow trails that keep leading to nothing.
Katsuki barely rests and doesn’t eat. Uses the night and the light of the moon against his back to fuel him.

Days tick by until they finally catch a scent, and it’s not a good one.
It’s Eijirou’s blood. Lots of it. A patch of grass pressed down, as if Ei had laid there, the blood dried and crusted over already.

Katsuki can’t help the desperate whine that escapes his throat or the heart wrenching howl he lets out.
He knows he shouldn’t, but he curls up in his wolf form, right there. The patch of pressed grass tinted in blood haunting him as he lays in the last spot Eijirou touched.
Mina, Hanta, and Denki all join him. Curling up next to each other, just like when they were cubs. When Eijirou would lay between all of them, comfy and warm and so small.
They were a few miles below the southern border of their territory on the cusps of the Todorokis' land.

And Katsuki hated these people but knew he needed to ask if anyone has been through their territory.
They venture in, knowing full well that Enji Todoroki was not a nice Alpha and did not like guests.

Luckily it's his son that finds them.

Todoroki Shouto.
Now, Katsuki may hate the Todorokis but he's okay with Shouto.

They tell Shouto what happened, about their packmate that got stolen by a rogue alpha.

"Oh, the human boy?" he says, "My condolences."

"He's not dead!" Mina yells, but Katsuki grits his teeth and shushes her.
it's a thought that's been running through all of their minds but everyone refuses to address it.
The alpha is willing to tell them everything he knows about the rogue werewolf. But it's not much.

Tells him that his name is Rappa Kendou, a packless Alpha who had gone rogue years ago. Would fight other alphas just for the thrill. Leave packs alphaless.
But Shouto doesn't know what Rappa would want with a human.

Says he'll tell his pack to be watchful and that he'll let Katsuki know if he hears anything.
They don’t find any other clues after that. The next few days are hell for them. Desperate to find something, /anything/, other than that.
After a week of searching, they finally head back.

Deku is healed fully and when they come back his eyes shine with hope that maybe they found Ei.

It’s heartbreaking to see those eyes lose their light when he finds out they came back with nothing.
He says he’ll go search once the moon rises, but Katsuki cuts him down.

“You really fucking think we didn’t search our asses off out there? You wont find shit, Deku. Dont bother.”

A few weeks go by and it’s tense with Ei gone.
Katsuki isn’t himself anymore. He’s easily agitated (moreso) and gets into sullen moods often. He keeps to himself, walks the southern border daily.
A month goes by, and Katsuki's parents hold a memorial service for Ei.

The pack howls their heart and soul out to the full moon for their lost brother.

Katsuki doesn't attend.
Katsuki still searches.

Will be gone for a handful of days as he searches the nearby woods weekly.

His parents are sick of it. Mitsuki yells at him that he needs to be there for his /pack/, he's their alpha, for fuck's sake.
His packmates try to comfort him but eventually they try to get him to accept the reality of the situation.

Months go by.
"He's still out there, Deku, I can feel it."

Izuku just nods his head, a mournful look to his face. He knows what Katsuki is feeling is all in his head, a way of denying the truth.
The amount of blood that was left at the scene and the way Shouto had told them that Rappa was a cruel wolf.

How could he still be alive? And after all this time?
The saddest thing to see is when Katsuki dreams of Ei. His tail wags, and his paws twitch and he'll make these soft, happy yelps.

Katsuki will wake with a sorrowful whine.

Those are the days he isolates himself the most.
It’s been several months since the incident and Katsuki still finds himself almost in tears whenever he thinks of Eijirou.

Dreams of him often.
But he’s finally stopped searching. He keeps a watchful eye on his pack. Tells them all not to get too close to the borders and to always keep him informed of anything suspicious.

Makes his packmates train with him. Pushes them to their limits so they can defend themselves.
He gets into a routine. Wakes up, scents his packmates, goes for a run, visits Eijirou’s memorial site, hunts, checks the borders, trains with his pack, . Occasionally yelling at Denki or Deku and ignoring his parents.
Mitsuki says he’s starting to grow into a great pack alpha.

But Katsuki doesn’t think so.

He thinks he's become a more ruthless Alpha.
Will attack anyone that comes into his borders, threatens death if they dont leave immediately.

Has sent werewolves away bleeding and whimpering, werewolves that were harmless, werewolves that were lost, that had come to court him.
There’s a big part of him that hopes one of these days, it’ll be Rappa at the border.
He trains every day with that thought in mind. That he needs to be stronger, quicker, better. In case he does come back, and this time, Katsuki will be ready.
But ever since he started scaring off visitors, the area around his territory has been free from foreign scents.

Nice.

Peaceful.

Up until now.
He wakes up early in the morning, much earlier than he’s used to, with a feeling of unease in his belly.

The hairs on the back of his neck are standing on end, and he cant help but let out an instinctual low, warning growl.
He gets up, set on investigating, when he notices Mitsuki standing at the entrance of the den.

They give each other a look before heading off to the direction of the scent. Mitsuki following close behind Katsuki as they sprint through the forest in their wolf forms.
Katsuki stops abruptly when the sharp scent of blood hits his nose. But underneath it is the scent of a werewolf. Its distressed scent pouring out in uncontrolled waves.
His mother gives him a questioning look, but Katsuki can only growl when he picks up on an old scent. A scent that holds pain and anger and sorrow. One that he tracked for weeks.

/Rappa./
He burrows through the forest at a speed that his mother cannot keep with. Weaves through trees and over roots and his heart is pounding, adrenaline bursting through his veins.

His teeth and claws ache to sink into his flesh.

He was going to enjoy this.
But the closer he gets, so close, only meters away now. Katsuki realizes it’s definitely not Rappa.

The wolf is small, much smaller than how Rappa was described to him. Its fur a deep red.
But Katsuki is going too fast and it still smells so much like Rappa, so he barges into the wolf. Knocks the thing straight into the ground.
It yelps loudly, as it rolls over, scrambling to get its paws back under it before scurrying a few feet away, its tail tucked nervously between its legs as it growls instinctually at Katsuki.

It’s definitely not Rappa but his scent is all over the wolf.
So he lunges again.

This time pining the wolf to the ground, his claws digging into red fur, his strong maw pressing against the wolf's throat.

It lets out a pitiful whine but doesn't move.

Remains lax and harmless under Katsuki's weight.

Submissive.
Katsuki growls back, low and threatening, and annoyed because even though it smells like Rappa, there's no way he can kill something so harmless.

A wolf obviously submitting.

And everything in his instincts is telling him not to.
A few seconds tick by with Katsuki's teeth pressed threateningly into the wolf's neck.

The wolf whines again, high and desperate.

As much as he craves bloodshed and as much as other packs think of him as a cruel Alpha, there's no way he can kill this wolf.
He finally gets off the Were and backs away a few feet, keeps his eyes trained on it as he watches the wolf timidly get up.

It’s keeping its weight off its front paw -injured- Katsuki realizes.
Katsuki cautiously approaches, a snarl on his face as he walks up to the submitting wolf.

And the wolf is whining, lowering its head, its ears pressed back, as it tries to make itself as small as possible.
Sniffing, an immense feeling of unease curdles in his belly as he looks the wolf over.

Katsuki realizes with dread that this wolf wasn't only being scented by Rappa, but was /turned/ by him.
Katsuki feels sick, like he wants to puke up his entire stomach. He’s never met a turned werewolf before. A human changed through the bite. He’s only heard stories. Gruesome stories of how painful it is, how torturous it feels, how some of them don’t survive the change.
And he hates the fact one is standing in front of him.

Hates it
hates it
hates it

Hates seeing the scar of the bitemark on the wolf’s neck, the off scent of an unnatural werewolf, the strange mix of Rappa’s underlying scent, its sire.
He eyes out the vibrant red fur, the ruby eyes, and the barely visible scar above one of them. Identical to the scar Eijirou got when they were only 6 years old and reckless and play fighting when Katsuki accidentally cut him.
He had gotten in trouble that day, scolded by his parents. That was the day they told him Eijirou was different, he wasn’t like the other cubs.

The foreign wolf’s tail, still tucked, starts wagging between its legs.
His mother finally catches up to them. Shaking Katsuki out of his stupor. She eyes the red wolf waringly. /Who is it?/

Katsuki takes a step back, and then another.

And then he's shifting back into his human form and the red wolf’s tail wags even more as it looks up at him.
But Katsuki ignores it and stumbles to Mitsuki, gasping for air “Mom,” he croaks, tears welling in his eyes as he tries to form the words “It’s - he’s - It's Eijirou”

He falls to his knees, letting out a sob. “He - Rappa must have- “
And Mitsuki rubs her head soothingly against Katsuki’s as she watches the red wolf, her eyes softening as she takes in his appearance.

She shifts then. “He’s hurt, idiot. Enough crying!” she yells, hitting Katsuki on top of his head. But there are tears in her eyes too.
Maybe the circumstances could have been better. But this was still a blessing for them, for her, for Katsuki.

Katsuki stands up on wobbly legs as he goes over to the red wolf.
His hands hovering over him until Eijirou is pressing himself against the blond, his soft fur against his skin until they fall into a heap on the floor. Eijirou licking at Katsuki’s face as his tail wags happily.
It's a reunion that none of them anticipated but something they thanked the gods for.

“Eijirou - Can you shift back?” she asks. But Ei just lets out a sad whine.

“He might need help.” Mitsuki says, “watch closely, you’ll have to remember how to do this, brat.”
So Katsuki sits up with Eijirou laying next to him. He combs his fingers through Eijirou’s fur as he watches his mother. Blinking through the tears that continue to run down his face.
"Since he was recently turned he's going to have a hard time shifting back and forth between forms. So you'll have to help through it, got it?"

And Katsuki nods his head.
Mitsuki’s palms run across Eijirou’s flank, pressing soothingly at his sides. And then her hand is going to his shoulder, and she’s smoothing her hand there too. Katsuki can smell the calming pheromones she’s releasing and he sees Eijirou visibly relax into her.
Sees the way Ei's eyes clamp shut and he grits his teeth. His breathing labored.

And then he's shifting, agonizingly slow, no doubt painfully so, back into his human form.

And then Eijirou is in front of him. /His/ Eijirou. The mate he thought he lost forever.
His hair is much longer and he's lost a lot of weight, and there's scars littering his body, but it's /Eijirou/ grinning up at him.
Katsuki doesn't realize how long he sits there, hugging and holding Eijirou tightly in his arms, until his mother coughs out that they've been gone for awhile now and the pack is going to get worried.
A selfish part of him doesn't want to bring Eijirou back to the pack, wants to keep Eijirou in his arms all day until the sky turns dark and he knows this isn't all just a dream.
