My theory is that the left isn’t divided by authoritarian vs libertarian, but as normal left vs weird left. Here are some examples:

ML: The Soviet Union had many issues, but it also had numerous successes. We must analyze it in order to synthesize and new theory to bring about revolution.

Weird ML: Stalin is literally did nothing wrong ever and also Trans people aren’t real.

Maoist: Mao has numerous good ideas and modern China has fallen to revisionism.

Weird Maoists:
I will bomb the DSA and a first world janitor is the same as a bourgeoisie.

Anarchists: the state is inherently exploitative so we shouldn’t use it.

Weird anarchists: Everyone who disagrees with me is a red fash who should be shot and killed by our horizontally organizes death squads.

Leftcom: we should follow Marx as closely as possible and avoid commodity production while pushing for global revolution.

Weird Leftcoms: literally every revolution ever was a brutal failure and everyone is wrong about marx except for me
