Kadir Şakçı (43) was killed while his son Burhan (16) was seriously wounded after answering “We are Kurds” when Hikmet Usta, the armed attacker, asked them for their origins in Sakarya province. Hikmet began shooting immediately and said “I don’t like your kind” (December 2018)
Apê Musa Anter, a prominent Kurdish journalist, activist and writer, was assassinated (shot at a festival) by JİTEM (Turkish deep state intelligence) as he was seen as too big of a threat. 20 September 1992.

Leyla Qasim, a Kurdish activist who was executed by hanging at only 22 years old by the Baathist govt of Iraq. She wrote pamphlets for the Kurdish people, explaining the horrors of the Baathist govt. She was arrested w 4 others on the crime of attempted airplane hijacking.
