in the era of social media, people often portray themselves as perfect online & living their best life. this is never a true representation of who people are.

no one will broadcast themselves at their worst - crying, stressed, haven't moved for days, hating themselves.
sites like Instagram create a perfect aspect of people's lives that can put pressure on others to also be perfect. to look like influencers; to be doing the coolest things; to always be busy & successful or just surrounded by friends.
no one will broadcast themselves alone, bored watching TV because it doesn't make you look as good or interesting. this is where social media is never a real representation of people's lives and can have bad effects on people's mental health.
I definitely feel pressure from social media to almost live a perfect life and while it can be good to stay connected; get inspirations and make the most of each day - the pressure can often be too much.
The ' http://CentreForMentalHealth.org ' has found that the use of social media can lead to heightened anxiety, loneliness, FOMO, lower life satisfaction & issues over body image - in both men and women.
So on #WorldMentalHealthDay please know it is okay to not be perfect, no one is & that social media is not real or honest. It's good to take a break from social media every now and then, for your brain and #ItsOkNotToBeOk .
People are always there to listen and feeling down because of social media is completely normal. If you do not wish to talk to someone you know, in the UK these are people who will listen.
