2016 & 2017 ARMYs working their arses off to get one mf spin on the radios and getting shocked out of the sheer amazement of seeing a BTS song being played even if it's a late in the night favour spin.
requests after requests lol
ARMYs never gave up tho
ARMYs hard work and dedication
This was hurtful,, really hurtful

They were rejected by many radio stations back then...
But did that demotivate ARMYs?

Nope.
It motivated them.
Things were improving and slowly ARMYs efforts was seeing positive results 💜
Mic Drop was a game changer at that time.
Pure efforts and organic growth
The main reason being the corruption surrounding the whole radio scene in the US and we've been screaming about it since 2017 coz its terribly normalized among labels and BTS fell back in that game of money for spins coz they never took any part in it https://rol.st/2KttyU8
Then comes the mf racist DJs who just don't wanna play korean songs on their platform even if it is charting well because of its enormous sales and streams. They just won't play it. BTS were mocked for comedy in their shows and surpringly only ARMYs some up against it.
Then comes the self created tradition of ARMYs to send flowers and food and other offerings to DJs and request them to play BTS and we've been doing it for three consecutive years now.
And it wasn't just in the US but ARMYs all over the world adopted this way of requesting
The way ARMYs invested in those flowers in the hopes of getting spins for Bangtan. We really did that.
Many DJs accepted them, were overwhelmed and posted their pics on their social medias and even gave BTS some spins on their show.
You must be wondering what was the kpop community doing while ARMYs were giving their all to promote BTS? Well,, they were calling us "beggarmys" and ridiculing our efforts đŸ€“
"Western validation"

The irony is one of them having s*perM in their username now sjsjdksk
The amount of subtle disses LMAO 💀💀
Billboard was an unneeded western validation and the first ever BB TSA won by a korean act aka BTS was a paper award for them
The way BBMAs & BB was dissed by the whole kpop community just coz BTS charted on it and were awarded the TSA, unforgettable. And we were called beggarmys for making requests to radio stations and doing all of those above mentioned work to get BTS the success they deserved
If I got a penny for the number of times they screamed "western validation" to shade BTS out of sheer saltiness, I'd probably be able to buy JHope's current apartment lmao
Well you get how pretty the picture was for ARMys :))
Ls even went and attacked some radio stations for thanking and appreciating ARMYs efforts lmao,, salty mutherfvvkers
This was just sad🗿
Now this radio station that only ARMYs have been requesting to play BTS made this poll tweet where they agreed to give a spin to random kpop tracks in return & obviously ARMYs revolted.

They really expect us to work for their faves too while they sit and ridicule BTS..?🗿
No words lmao
Anyways, ARMYs continued with their efforts coz BTS only got us, and if we don't work hard to get them spins, they won't get em and it will only make the competition with those western acts who got the support of bundling and payola spins harder than it already is
We were growing and so were our fanbases but with no label money to back us up, we literally had to work thrice as hard to keep BTS on the radio
In the big year of 2018, ppl still got surprised that BTS was being played on the radio of their locality!!
WIOM was something ARMYs worked really hard for coz it was an english track and we gave it our best shot at getting spins as much as we could. ARMYs worked really hard for whatever stats you're seeing right now.
Not @ Kiss FM shading them on behalf of ARMYs SKDJDKSK the same FM eggs attacked for playing BTS and accepting ARMYs gifts lol
Things were a lot better with MOTS: Persona, BWL was acknowledged by many US stations & DJs even before its release. That's coz now, BTS's impact is too huge to ignore. For anybody. Unless you're in denial.
BWL did "nice" on radios as far as a song with no shady payola and solely pure sales and streams backing it up and also BTS's pure talentry and people's genuine love for it is concerned.
But radio is still a challenge for ARMYs & it will always be. Regular DJs might give a couple of hype spins & exchange spins for social media power & request gifts and stuff, but to chart on Hot 100 & IFPI chart we need longevity on radio to add to our consistent sales and streams
And for a group who sings in korean in an english dominant west, and doesn't cater to any of the demands of the corrupted music market, it's hard af. But definitely worth the effort for us ARMYs. We're proud of the way BTS are.

Original and Genuine.
We've seen the labels of kpop acts following BTS to promote in the US use the same old tricks to get easy spins from DJs for their english songs with no prior chart presence, articles being payed by labels to blatantly lie that 'BTS had "solid radio play" from the very start'
But hey, we gotta stop whining and move on at one point right. Corruption exists everywhere, we gotta work with what we've got despite of these bullcraps being pulled off around us, aim to make BTS even more out of reach in the next comeback. We can do this. We will do this.

When Make It Right remix released, it got some initial radio attention, not as much as BWL, but an okay amount I guess and just like everytime, ARMYs grabbed onto every opportunity we got to get some free spins for BTS
It became 2017 to 2018 and now 2019, but some old methods of radios to get ARMYs attention never changed.. Like making random voting polls and stuff
or.. asking for retweets or followers and basically, social media engagements in return for spins :/ ....& guess what happened, that's when some ARMYs lost their shet and snapped. I don't blame them, but it caused some avoidable drama mainly coz the DJ retweeted their hate tweets
While the situation got messy, other ARMYs who have been working hard for getting radio spins jumped in and handled the situation. And the conclusion that "you won't engage with DJs and simply block them and move on unless you have anything positive to say" was reached..well kinda
Did I mention the part where kpop stans got involved to make themselves look better when they don't even work as hard as us on the radio spins for their faves coz their faves label already have their deals set crystal clear lmao
Anyways, moving on to the bigger stuff. This super nice radio DJ tweeted about how disappointed he was to see other DJs in his fb group talking ill of BTS. ARMYs got really sad reading it. Imaging the kind of cusses that were used that pissed him off enough to make a tweet..
He deleted the tweets he reflexively made and announced he's gonna play Make it Right now as a pay back lmao and that's how it went.
For now, we don't really know which DJs was Big Reid exactly talking about in his short rant coz it was a private conversation amongst DJs, not on air or in any public platform for that matter.. So we continue with what we do, that is do our best for BTS
BTS eventually has surpassed PSY to become the korean artist with the most radio spins in the US which is only 91K BTW, western artists get that within weeks of a release but it took BTS years of several releases
Some more perspective and opinions and they're all valid
