If you don't hear from me for a while, I started a rewatch of SVU. Yes, the WHOLE thing. I'm on episode 3 of season 1 now and guess who is the first Detective to kick a suspect/perp?
You've got that right: Ms. Olivia Benson! 😎
(El just grabbed him afterwards.)
Update on my rewatch. I just saw Stalked (season 1, episode 8). The SECOND policeman to kick a suspect is ... drum roll ... Donald Cragen!
Yes sir, he kicked Richard White right off his feet and then Olivia slapped the cuffs on him.
New update on my rewatch. I'm on Disrobed (season 1, episode 13) and we have a Detective slapping a suspect against the back of the head. And that Detective is ... Olivia Benson, ladies and gentlemen! So it's 2 for Benson, 1 for Cragen and 0 for the rest so far. To be continued.
End note to this episode: Olivia's first kill.
Update after the entire first season:
Ep 17: Elliot fights off another cop who grabbed him first.
Ep 20: Cragen grabs a suspect's face! (see picture).
All in all the score for violence in season 1 is:
Cragen: 2
Olivia: 2
Elliot: just yells sometimes when he's mad
Onto season 2.
Reporting after rewatching the first 10 episodes of #SVU S2 - my police brutality count continues:
Ep 3, Elliot grabs a perp by the tie
Ep 7, Elliot gets hit hard twice by a cop and... does nothing
Ep 2 & 10, Fin tackles a suspect on the run
0 violence points so far in S2 IMO.
#SVU violent cop count continues.
Season 2, ep 15: Fin slams a suspect against a van while the suspect wasn't resisting arrest.
Ep 16: Fin slams a perp's face against a car before beating him up off screen.
New violence totals so far:
Cragen: 2
Olivia: 2
Fin: 2
The rest: 0
The post above reflects the final count for seasons 1 and 2. Now moving on to season 3. To be continued ...
New totals after the first 12 episodes of season 3. Here are the pics first: 1. Olivia going off on a suspect in ep 8; 2. Fin grabbing a suspect in ep 11 and 3. Elliot squeezing a perp's throat in ep 12. Elliot also grabbed a suspect aggressively in eps 3 and 6. (Ep 3 is #Wrath)
New totals for our beloved yet sometimes hotheaded Detectives after the first 12 eps of season 3:
Cragen: 2
Olivia: 3
Fin: 3
Elliot: 3
So Elliot has caught up with his coworkers quickly, equaling the playing field after 55 episodes.
Onward with the rest of season 3 now! 💪🏼
I've finished S3 & haven't seen police brutality in eps 13-23. Ep 22, Elliot kicks a chair away just when a suspect wants to sit. He did it without rage & because the man called a young woman w. Down Syndrome a m*ron, so not counting it!
Score remains as above. S4 is up next.
Results of the first 9 eps of S4 (first 2 disks):
Ep 5: Elliot pins a crook to the floor with a chair for info; joint effort with Olivia so I gave them 1 point each
Ep 6: Elliot throws a suspect against the wall & punches him. I'm calling this his first real wrong move. 😇
New totals after 75 episodes are now:
Cragen: 2
Fin: 3
Olivia: 4
Elliot: 5
One point added for Cragen in S4 episode 12:
he attacks none other than Ed Tucker! 😶
Elliot has to pry him off of the IAB Sergeant ...
One point added for Elliot in S4 episode 15:
Elliot beats up a pedophile (in Prague) to get info to find a missing girl. He gets that way when it's about children ...
The rewatch continues: season 5, episode 3:
Fin slams a cell door open, trapping a suspect's arm between the bars. 1 point for Fin.
Season 5, episode 5: Elliot holds a perp under water until he gives up the location of a little girl. Is tempted to just drown him. 1 point for Elliot.
New totals after 99 episodes so far:
Cragen: 3
Fin: 4
Olivia: 4
Elliot: 7
Season 5, episode 14:
My man Fin beats up a perp who traffics children from Africa to the US to be sold into (sex) slavery. Elliot has to pull him off of the guy. 1 violence point for Fin.
I just stayed up way too late to complete my rewatch of #SVU S5.
Elliot grabs/pushes a few people, mostly in self-defense. He gets 1 point for grabbing a voyeur by the neck to get info in ep 25.

New violence totals after 116 episodes:
Cragen: 3
Fin: 5
Olivia: 4
Elliot: 8
And I'm back with season 6, episode 2:
Elliot is very invested in a case and grabs a guy, slams him against the wall and grabs his throat for info. 1 point for El.
S6, episode 4, Scavenger: Elliot does attack a perp (yes, they already know he's the perp) but it's an act so they can get Huang into the room, so I'm really not counting this one - even if El seemed to enjoy himself 😁
(Watch the ep if you don't believe it was necessary 😇)
#SVU violence count, season 6 continued.
Ep 6, pic 1: Elliot grabs a vigilante who is interfering in a case; pic 2 shows Olivia backing Elliot up.
Ep 10 (pic 3): Fin slaps a suspect/witness.
Ep 11(pic 4): Elliot grabs a suspect and slams him against the wall.
And then a funny one in episode 12: Elliot and Olivia have a suspect between them, slam him into a lamp post together!
1 point each.
New totals after 14 episodes of season 6 and 130 episodes in total:
Cragen: 3
Fin: 6
Olivia: 5
Elliot: 11
I have finished S6. Somehow in my memory, Elliot began to deteriorate in this season but I have to say, most eps he is just quietly doing his job; he just seems more invested emotionally. He never even touched Rickett! (Just the lockers ...)
New violent cop totals after 6 seasons (139 episodes):
Cragen: 3
Fin: 6
Olivia: 5
Elliot: 12
I just added one more point for El in ep 18 (second pic).
First pic is a peek at his state of mind, now separated from wife & kids. 😢
Onward to season 7.
New pics after 2 discs of season 7 (9 episodes):
1. Fin slams a cabby against his cab; 2. later punches a suspect who already put his hands up. +2
3. Olivia grabs a suspect and elbows him in the face. +1
4. Elliot beats up his former partner, to protect the partner's son. +1
Pics 1, 2 and 3 are from "911". 4 is from "Ripped".
New totals after 148 episodes:
Cragen: 3
Fin: 8
Olivia: 6
Elliot: 13
Elliot got help right after beating up Breslin. Maybe I'm biased but I'm still not seeing an out-of-control cop.
Totals after 7 seasons:
Cragen: 3
Fin: 8
Olivia: 6
Elliot: 14
El's 14th point is of course hitting Blaine, his temp partner in ep20 while Olivia is w Computer Crimes, after the guy taunts him about Olivia leaving him 👀
Once he talks to Olivia, Elliot is his focused self again 😉
8 episodes into season 8, Ms. DB is on her way out.
New totals:
Cragen: 3
Fin: 8
Olivia: 6
Elliot: 14
Beck: 2
I'm not going to miss her but I have to admit, she made Elliot look good. While she was all riled up, he was being calm, reasonable and patient so there's that. 😄
And no, we're not going to talk about that kiss. Ever.
S8 ep 9, Olivia and Elliot work their first case together after her return & do so with a passion! 1 violence point each and a very angry Casey, berating them for how they worked the suspect. Didn't realize the elevator scene was in this very episode. What a great reunion!
2 more points to hand out in S8: episode 11, Olivia is rough with the suspect (Elliot thinks it's nice to see someone else with anger issues) and episode 12, Fin pushes a suspect around (with guest cop Chester Lake) in interrogation.
In ep 14, Elliot is accused of beating/choking a man to death. Since I saw exactly what Elliot said, 1 punch to make the man stop hitting him, I rule it self-defense so no point. In ep. 15 he does grab a suspect, thinking he tossed a baby in the river. (It's Pablo!) 1 point.
In episode 19 Olivia goes off the deep end and kicks a suspect to a pulp. Cragen has to drag her away. Big violence point for Benson!
And finally, in ep 20 Elliot threatens to break a suspect's neck to get a confession. 1 point for Elliot. New police violence totals after 8 seasons (183 episodes) :

Cragen: 3
Fin: 9
Olivia: 9
Elliot: 17
Beck: 2
Well well well. I sure hadn't expected to be handing out points to ADA's but here we are.
Season 9, episode 2: Olivia grabs a suspect and episode 3: Casey grabs a guy by the shirt and tears into him. Elliot talks him out of pressing assault charges.
Season 9, episode 6: Elliot stops Olivia from attacking a perp, saving her a point! Later she beats up someone with a book (!) but that was self-defense, since the guy attacked her with a knife in her own apartment. So no points for Liv, thanks to El. 😇
I am stubbornly continuing my #SVU rewatch and have now reached the 200 episode mark (which was Authority). First one more pic, from S9, ep 11: Elliot grabs Cole in interrogation in Streetwise. New totals after 200 episodes in the next tweet.
Police (and ADA) violence count after 200 episodes of #SVU:
Cragen: 3
Fin: 9
Olivia: 10
Elliot: 18
Beck: 2
Novak: 1
Final ep of season 9, Chester Lake kills two cops who were also rapists. He did it off screen and he's out of the show now, but I feel they should still count.
Also, I found I made a mistake adding up Elliot's points in this thread. He's not at 18 but at 19 now. Onto season 10!
